British designer Emma Cook is one of London fashion's brightest young stars. A Central Saint Martins graduate, she interned with Donna Karan in New York and Martine Sitbon in Paris before setting up her own label in 2001. Known for her attention to surface detail (read: prints, ruffles, rhinestones and lace), her girl-friendly aesthetic comes courtesy of longtime friends Cathy Edwards (fashion director at Antother Magazine) and set designer Shona Heath, both of whom she relies on for inspiration. Her clothes are now stocked at ASOS, Liberty and Matches, among other outlets. A regular collaborator with Topshop, the two styles of shoe she has created for them will hit the store later in the autumn.
In this video interview, Emma Cook talks on camera to handbag.com about how she got started in the industry, her fashion friends, and reveals her latest venture, a one-off handbag she has designed in collaboration with Splenda Sweet Minis. For your chance to win one of these exclusive bags, worth £650, visit splenda.co.uk and enter their free prize draw from 1 October 2009. In the meantime, watch the video below.
