Eric Bana talks to us about his latest screen time, a documentary about his love of cars. Eric explained what Love The Beast is all about, “It’s basically about a lifetime with an object, and an obsession,” Eric says. “I one day opened my garage door and found this car that I’d had my whole life and realised how important it’d been to me and my friends. It’s a documentary looking at the importance of that, that this car can kind of transcend itself.”
But he found having cameras following his every move pretty spooky, “It was weird, but then again it was all to do with the hobby, they weren’t in my home, they weren’t around my family. So it wasn’t too bad, to be honest.”
In the documentary Eric’s love of racing sees him, almost inevitably, involved a car crash. He admits his wife sometimes feels uneasy about his extreme hobby. “She’s probably not mad on me doing rallies, she’s completely fine with me racing on the track, because there’s quite a difference in terms of the level of danger. Also I’ve been doing it for such a long time and was doing it before we met. She’s always been nothing but supportive with that. I’m sure she’s concerned, and with good reason, but we can’t be wrapped in cotton wool all the time.”
