Academy Award nominated actor Jeff Bridges has admitted that while he’s honoured to be up against actors such as George Clooney, Colin Firth and Morgan Freeman in the race for this year’s Actor in a Leading Role Oscar, he’s in it to win it.
When asked who he’d give the award to, the Crazy Heart actor exclaimed, “Why me! What are you crazy?” But the humble Bridges went on to add, “I mean, while I’m honoured to be in the company of those actors, I mean they’re all incredible actors, what I’m interested in is bring people in to see this movie which I really loved making and care so much about and I think it’s a really good one. So awards and those kinds of things bring people into the theatre.”
Bridges also had nothing but praise for his co-star Maggie Gyllenhaal. “I’ve been a fan of her acting for so long. I’m so glad that she was nominated, god her performance was great in this movie,” Jeff said, before adding, “She was top of my list to play this role and I’m glad that worked out.”
On a parting note Bridges also exclusively told us to watch out for a Big Lebowski sequel. “I’m working with The Coens in March,” Jeff explained, “But if they’re up for a Lebowski 2 it’d be great to get all the guys together again and do that.”
