We took some time out to chat to Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Helena Bonham-Carter and Michael Sheen at Alice In Wonderland’s red carpet premiere in Leicester Square.
Director Tim Burton admitted he was excited to work in 3D, and felt it added to the film’s eccentric storyline. “I think what attracted me first off was the idea of Alice in 3D,” he said, before adding, “It just seemed the material and the medium was a good mixture, and I just thought it’s so trippy to see Alice in 3D.”
Johnny Depp, who has worked with Burton before on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and is known for his unique take on characters, explained that he wanted to get inside the Mad Hatter’s head.“The thing with the Mad Hatter at least for me was the idea of being crazy and being unaware of it which is probably freedom,” Johnny said. “But being crazy and having some semblance of knowledge of it is absolutely traumatising”
Alice In Wonderland hits cinemas on 5 March.
