Prince William's been there, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been there, even Paris Hilton has stopped by for some sun, sea and sand.

Situated on the Croatian island of Hvar in the Adriatic Sea (located just off the Dalmatian coast) is the stunning Adriana Hvar Marina Hotel & Spa, a four star paradise with 50 rooms, nine suites, private gardens and sea views.

Hvar, which was once a 16th century Venetian fortress, has been using it's old school charm to entice island hoppers, luxury yachts, party goers and celebrities over the past decade. As a result, the island is packed with nightclubs, restaurants, hillside villas and trendy boutique hotels like the Adriana Hvar (doubles from £182 per night).

During the day time, especially during peak season, the marbled Hvar Town square is filled with bustling coffee shops and people charging up for another night of revelry. If you're more interested in soaking up the culture, take a tour around Stari Grad, a 4th century Greek village and UNESCO Heritage site.

The real treasure of Hvar Island lies in its natural olive groves, rolling vineyards, lavender fields and unspoiled pristine white beaches and coves. The pretty port on the island is also a favourite stop over with yacht owners, who often opt for the luxury of the Riva Yacht Harbor Hotel (doubles from £89).

If you really want to feel like an A-lister, wait until the sun goes down and head to Carpe Diem, an incredible open-air entertainment club, or the Hula Hula bar in West Hvar that has served cocktails to Jay-Z and Beyoncé. For a quiet evening, go for a moonlit walk to Konoba Mengo, an authentic hilltop Hvar restaurant serving traditional Dalmatian food.

How to get there:

There are no flights directly to Hvar from the UK, so you'll need to fly to Split or Dubrovnik and then catch the ferry to the island. Croatia Airlines and EasyJet fly to Split, while EasyJet and British Airways fly to Dubrovnik.
