Girls! Make Your Mark Awards

The finalists have just been announced, take a look and cast your vote for who should win our People's Choice Award.

Girls make your markMake Your Mark has joined forces with handbag.com to create the Girls! Make Your Mark Awards. Together we are leading the search to find the cream of the country’s female entrepreneurs and business brains. The Girls! Make Your Mark Awards celebrate the thousands of gifted women out there who have worked hard to set up their own company and take on the business world, thereby encouraging more female entrepreneurs to follow in their footsteps and enjoy the same energising sense of achievement and satisfaction.

The finalists for the Girls! Make Your Mark Awards 2008 have been announced and you can take a look at all of them here and vote for your favourite to win the People's Choice Award.

A host of some of the most influential women in business today are lending their support and expertise to this inspirational initiative including fashion designers Savannah Miller and Marissa Montogmery, who share an insight into their success and designer Pearl Lowe who says "I think the Girls! Make Your Mark Awards will help provide a fabulous arena to showcase the brilliant efforts of female entrepreneurs in the UK today - I know from personal experience that it can be challenging running a start up business, whilst juggling other aspects of your life, this is why I feel it is important to support and help champion females who have gone it alone and are realising their dreams."

The awards take place on 12 September and are given in four categories judged by Ann Summers CEO Jacqueline Gold, vocal coach Carrie Grant, and business woman extraordinare Gita Patel.

Girls make your markThe four Girls! Make Your Mark award categories are:

Female Entrepreneur of the Year
For enterprising individuals who are running their own business, large or small.

Entrepreneurs with a Conscience
For entrepreneurs who have combined the principles of a successful business with an emphasis on addressing issues concerning society and / or the environment. Both individuals and larger community groups may enter.

The Pioneer
For a business which is less than 12 months old, or an enterprising idea which is yet to launch but shows huge potential. We're not looking for an idea which only exists on the back of a beer mat but instead would like to hear about ideas and young businesses which have been fully researched, and in some cases launched, which are not yet a success story but show the potential to be.

Handbags and Gladrags
Here at handbag.com we love fashion, beauty and all things glamorous, and we want to reward a business which is making its mark in this field.

The awards are open to female entrepreneurs, or teams including / led by female entrepreneurs, only.

Along with money-can't-buy awards such as mentorship and support, our lucky winners will also walk away with some fabulous prizes. Make sure to look at all our finalists and cast your vote by 1 September for the People's Choice Award.
