Hello!

I am going to Bournemouth for my Hen weekend and I wondered if any one could give me some information/recommendations on where to go for the following itinery -

Friday night, Looking for -

7:00 - 9:00pm - A posh, up market restaurant to seat 15 people
9:00 - 10:00 - A Stylish, glamourous bar, somewhere to go for a champagne toast!
10:00 - till late - A stylish, glamourous club that plays r'n'b, house, current music

Saturday, Looking for  -

4:00 - 6:00 - A fun, upbeat reataurant, a place where the waiters make a fuss of you, restaurant plays music, serves cocktails etc. Somewhere fun!
9:00 - 11:00 - pre drinks at a fun, cheesy bar that doesnt mind people being dressed up in costumes etc.
11:00 till late - club that plays 70's, 80s, current music that allows fancy dress

If you have any suggestions on restaurant, bars or clubs that match what i'm after, then i would be very grateful!!

Many thanks!!

Hi Bubbles,

I organised my friends hen there a couple of years ago and we went for a meal here

www.jimmys-bar.com

There was around 25 of us, and they did us a set menu and let us go in decorating the table etc beforehand.  Food and service was pretty good, only downside is that aswell as a service charge tip - they thought it was there right to keep the change from our bill (which was probably £20ish pounds!) but we wrestled that off them!

xx

Jimmy's Bar went into administration and has now closed. It is due to reopen as a bar/restaurant/brasserie called Monkberrys. Not sure when though!

Bournemouth has a large University population and now summer is over the stag/hen groups are all gone and the bars in town tend to be filled with freshers and students. Not sure how old you are,  but if you are more than mid twenties I would recommend you head to the top end of town (west cliff/ west end area) for the less cheesy/student places where it tends to be a bit more classy, or pretentious, depending on your view! Some places are fussy about hen parties though! The main strip in town where the majority of the bars are is the loudest area, you can't walk more than a few steps without passing a club or bar.

Based on what you've said and if you want Bournemouth town centre area only I would look up:

:00 - 9:00pm - A posh, up market restaurant to seat 15 people   -  The Print Room, West Beach, Funki Sushi, or Gary Rhodes Brasserie at Kings Hotel or Captains Club  (in Christchurch, about 5 miles away)
9:00 - 10:00 - A Stylish, glamourous bar, somewhere to go for a champagne toast! 1812 for cocktails , Klute, Funki Sushi, Hamptons, Aruba, Bar So, Orange Rooms
10:00 - till late - A stylish, glamourous club that plays r'n'b, house, current music - V, Be Bar, Bar So, Bliss, Toko,  Klute

Saturday, Looking for  -

4:00 - 6:00 - A fun, upbeat reataurant, a place where the waiters make a fuss of you, restaurant plays music, serves cocktails etc. Somewhere fun! 1812, Aruba, Alcatraz, Cuccini's, Prezzo, Hot Rocks
9:00 - 11:00 - pre drinks at a fun, cheesy bar that doesnt mind people being dressed up in costumes etc. Heroes, Bar Me, Walkabout, Elements, Disco Fever, Toko,
11:00 till late - club that plays 70's, 80s, current music that allows fancy dress  - Toko, Bar Me, Walkabout, Disco Fever

Ha ha, it's still popular for retirement but was sort of rebranded over the last ten years as a hen/stag weekend town. Was the first place in the country that trialed 24 hour drinking I think. Bournemouth Uni has massively grown over the last few years too and just won the Number One New University award so it's very much a student town these days.
