Whilst I dont expect a guy to spend loads on me, I think its just nice to know that he can occasionally treat you without being mean about it. As Linux said though, if money is an issue then a nice home cooked meal etc can be just as effective, if not more personal.

On another note, I do tend to treat my man as much as he treats me and that works for us. My ex was the kind to throw his cash around and feel that if he has just spent £200 on something I didnt really want and bloody well told him so, then I have no reason not to be happy. He did this numerous times with things I didnt really like which was even more frustrating.

Whilst frugalness isnt attractive, a thoughtful yet cheap gift is far nicer than something that cost a fortune and you hate.

to me stinginess means no generosity of spirit. It is extremely unattractive because of that. stingy people also think that they are a lot smarter that idiots who spend money on 'unwanted' things.

Agree with stingyness merging with other bad personality traits.

It's also about fairness and everyone paying their way. It's not fair for others to have to keep subbing someone and over time it builds up resentment.

In my experience it's been the ones with most that have been the most stingy. Whether that's because parental help meant they had no idea what it's like in the real world, or perhaps they ended up with a lot by being stingy I don't know!
