I would definitely put your foot down now. Explain that you and your OH will share the time you spend at each house to even out the bills, however if anyone is to stay over for more than half the week, then contributions towards the bills would be expected. Their staying over would obviously not affect the rent, but certainly the electricity costs. This would extend to water if their OH used the shower on a regular basis, naturally. With regards to the cleaning, this may be more complicated to monitor, but in essence whoever messes it up cleans it! I'm afraid you may need to be petty and tell your housemate that her boyfriend needs to pull his socks up in regard to cleaning up after himself; else not make the mess in the first place! |
