Can anyone advise me on the above places...I'm thinking of going to Cape Town for a few days followed by Jo'berg - Sun City and the Pilanesberg National Park. Will have to be in July/August time which I know isnt ideal, but not a lot of choice. I really need help on it all - Cape Town areas to stay in and whether 3/4 days will be enough, and then with Sun City, advice on it all!! Where to stay, what its like and the ease at getting to the National Park. I am web surfing for info, but like to seek the advice of baggers who have visted. Basically, I'm looking for som adventure, some sun and some fun!!

I went to Sun City on a press trip and it's a laugh. Think Vegas in Africa - tacky, silly, over the top and fun, but not for more than a couple of days.

Pilanesburg is next door to Sun City and a lovely place to see lots of animals. I would suggest staying one night at Sun City and 1 or 2 at Pilanesburg (you can spend the day at sun city anyway, and its cheaper at Pilanesburg). Depending on your budget there are places at both that range from cheap to expensive. Are you hiring a car? Pilanesburg is best with a car as you can go around at your own leisure, although they do have ranger drivers if you need them.

Cape Town can be very windy and wet in July/Aug. If you spend a day doing cape point and boulders bay (penguins), another day doing table mountain and other things around cape town. A day for the waterfront if you want shopping. Then 3-4 days should be enough. If you want to get out of Cape Town and do the wine route or Hout Bay or those sort of places then you might need longer. But for a short holiday it is a very good place.

I wouldn't bother going to Jhb if you are going to Pilanesburg. Other than to get from one place to another there isn't much to see in Jhb.

Hi Salsa,
I stay in S.A, so if you need any advice - lemme know... Been to all places of course, so can help with anything - and get info via the net if you want...
