Hi, I know this is even later, but only just seen the thread. Anyway, in my family we always go private. We aren't snobs but believe that when it comes to health you can't be too careful. About 2 years ago I had to go in for an op. the consultation was about 75 GBP. And I think the surgery was about 1000. However, it totally depends on what you need.

I wasn't referred by my doc, who had actually wanted me to go NHS. We just phoned our local private hospital and booked the appointments. You get seen so much faster, I had my consultancy and op in the same week!! Plus you are made to feel just that little better and not feeling rushed about taking up a bed or anything.

Personally, if it looks like its taking so long to get an appointment and you are in pain at least find out about going private.

Sorry I haven't replied, I forgot I'd made this thread! (Loads of stuff going on ATM)

I got given an appointment on Tuesday. For the last week I have phoned the hospital every day asking "where's my letter", by day 3 the mention of my name was causing groans in the office, and it paid off! I wish I'd tried that tactic months ago.

I get seen by the consultant on the 27th. So in the great scheme of things, not too long to go.

If not me, then who;
if not now, then when?
