Hiya Michelle and thanks for talking to us all at handbag!
with interest rates being low on mortgages and on savings would you pay off a mortgage first or save in a savings account? would appreciate your views on this.

Hi Michelle!

So it's Christmas soon and although I try not to, I always end up spending waaaaay over the budget I set myself...

Mostly it's because when i go to buy things for people me generosity overwhelms me and I end up buying more/better things than I had initially intended... plus a few bits i spot for myself!

Have you got any advice so that I can curb my spending and hopefully have money left over to celebrate New Year's Eve with some style?

Thanks a lot!

Kitty x

Michelle -

I have recently finished uni, and as a typical student, am maxing out my overdraft. Sometimes the bank lets me go over my limit, and then it charges me through the nose! I've heard sometimes that people dispute the charges, and get refunds. How common is this and what's the best way to go about it?

Thank you,

Daisy D

Hi Michelle,

I keep getting into the habit of spending more than I can afford - generally because of going out with friends, birthday parties, etc. I find it hard to tell friends "no, sorry, I can't afford to do this." How can I still have a social life without relying on my overdraft every month (and upsetting my friends)?! Thanks!

I am notorious amongst my friends for spending so much on clothes, I’m a designer girl and can’t help but splash my cash. With the recession hitting hard now I really need to shop more sensibly – I don’t want to stop buying pricey, designer clothes but I want to be able to find the bargains and the discounts out there rather than always paying full price, any help you can offer would be great.

Thanks Michelle

Hi Michelle

I have heard that if I pay for something costing between £100 and £30,000 on a credit card, then the card issuer is equally liable if something goes wrong.  If this is true, should I stop spending on my debit card and always stick purchases on the credit card?

Thanks,

Kirstin

Hi Michelle.

I am dreading Xmas this year.  I come from a big family (5 siblings, lots of neice and nephews etc).  We always buy presents but this year i am totally skint and therefore dreading it! Can you suggest any good places to pick up cheap prezzies or discount stuff that doesnt actually look like discount stuff?

Thanks x

PS, congrats on everything... i find you very inspiring!

Hi Michelle! Have you got any tips on how to reduce credit card debt? I've maxed out my card (again) and I really want to make a big effort to pay it all off in the New Year. I've tried to put money aside so many times and just end up spending it instead! What are your top tips for cutting credit card debt?

Hi Michelle,

My daughter has just started her first year at uni and I'm worried that having a huge loan in her bank account, she'll develop bad habits when it comes to spending. I really don't want her to end up with more debt than she needs - can you give me some advice to pass on to her so she learns how to make a budget and stick to it?

Thanks
