Yell Why when you are pregnant do people feel it's fine to comment on how you look?! This is the conversation I had with a lady (using the term loosely) serving me in a shop yesterday:

Lady: Oh I don't envy you in this weather
Me: Yes it is very hot and tiring
Lady: How long have you got left to go?
Me: 16 weeks
Lady: What?! (amazed face)
Me: Erm, yes 16 weeks
Lady: Are you sure there's just one baby in there?
Me: Erm, yes quite sure (death stare)

Mr Pink was beside me and I just looked at him, he knew!!Laughing I was so angry and upset when I got in the car, how f*cking rude is that?! I would never, ever make comments like that. I'm 24 weeks and I've put a stone on, so I'm not massive or anything and MrPink tried to reassure me that she was just commenting on the size of my actual bump but honestly.

Some people are so rude... and it seems to be women who've had children, so they should knw better.Cry

I guess its just one of those sort of things people say. Not sure her secret agenda was 'god you're a big fat chuff, thinkpink'. Thoughtless, but I bet she'd be mortified if she knew how upset you were by it.

I'm sure she didn't mean to be nasty - but people are just so thoughtless. My best friend (who is 3 weeks ahead of my pregnancy wise) was in tears a while ago because some one thought it would be a good idea to question if she really was only 24 weeks along as she was so 'huge'...Foot in mouth My friend is by no means big at all (she is a petite little thing) and this woman really upset her. This woman by they way is 20 stone plus... It's more the way people feel they have a right to comment on how you look, just because you are pregnant.YellCry

I got it all the time near when i was pregnant from about 25 weeks to 38 weeks, in the end i gave up going out...... its like you have an invisible sign on your head saying please make comments about my bump.

I got the OMG your huge are you sure there is one in there, to get ready your life is going to be ruined !!! How I didnt scream at any of these people i dont know.

Now the baby is here its the is it a boy or girl comments that get me, errr hello she has a pink blanket you moron.

Jeremy Osborne: Stop pissing on my bonfire.
Mark Corrigan: There is no bonfire!
Jeremy Osborne: That's because you keep pissing on it!

I hate the new bag !!

I know the feeling thinkpink but my comments are the other way round at the mo, I keep getting called "tiny" for 32 weeks tho me measurements are all fine and that but people still like to comment that my "face has filled out" and comment how i carry the baby and how big my boobs have got is another one. (OK, thats mainly from friends but I'd still rather not hear how Jordon-esque my boobies have gotten all the time, they are causing me enough pain!)

I don't think people mean it in a bad way, they open their mouths and crap comes out TBH. They are just trying to make conversation and sometimes when you're pg people can't say right for saying wrong. And if they said nothing at all, that would be wrong too.

I think the other thing to remember is that you don't often see full term women out and about, so a lot of people don't get how 'big' 'big' really is IYSWIM.

I remember being in asda at about 28 weeks with my first baby and the girl on the checkout bursting into tears and wailing 'but I'm 36 weeks and you're bigger than me!'

I've also had comments, ranging from 'you are too skinny, are you sure you are eating enough' to 'oh my god you are massive' and also getting called 'fatty' jokingly by a friend.

It makes me mad as I've not been sat here stuffing myself like a fat glutton on shite for weeks.  As my stomach is small, the midwife warned me I'd look like a bowling ball and I do.

It seems people lose all sense of tact when it comes to pregnancy :(((  try not to let it upset you thinkpink.  Easier said than done though, especially if you have had weight issues in the past :((((

As for the 20 stone women commenting on your friend.  I've dont think I would have held my tongue on that one.

yep it gets to me too, my MIL regularly says 'wow havent you put weight on' 'ooooh arent you getting bigger' ' your massive now' i'm going to avoid her till i pop, i can only hold my tongue for so longer and the soft OH says she's only being nice and commenting, a much nicer comment would be 'how are you and the baby'

Intentional or not how could you not know that commenting on someone's size might be offensive. How bloody rude!
I'm sure you are a perfectly fine size.
