I finished work on Friday and Finley was born at 5.42am Monday morning after the speediest birth possible... no time for music, water birth or anything!
My waters broke at 2.20am (and what a lot of water there was), I phoned the hospital who said that they wanted to see me within two hours, however my local hospital was full and on divert to another one half an hour away.  I decided to have a shower first before packing the rest of my hospital bag as I was told that as I hadn't had any contractions and as it was my first I'd likely be checked, sent home and induced the next day so plenty of time!

After twenty minutes I started to get contractions at three minutes apart, I was still trying to pack the hospital bag!  The contractions started get faster and so I called my local hospital again to check if they'd take me but they confirmed that they were definitely on divert.  With contractions now every minute we raced up to the other hospital where we arrived at 4.30am and I was immediately put on gas and air - my hb asked if it was worth trying the Tens machine we'd hired but was told that as I was already nine cms, it wasn't really worth it!   So after being at the hospital basically an hour my little boy arrived at 5.42am.
Everything happened in less than three and a half hours with labour recorded as taking just 2 hours and 55 minutes  - it wasn't really worth packing a labour bag as I didn't have time to touch a thing!  Apparently Finley was back to back at one point but moved around in time.  He's only small at 6lbs but amazing.

I had been dreading the birth but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought, the pain, whilst painful was only a fraction of what I'd been anticipating and as I watched my husband cut the cord I couldn't believe how lucky we'd been with such an easy birth.

The first few days have been equally as amazing and easy, we've been sitting in the garden reading magazines this morning.  Breast feeding has been going really well although I still need to get some feeding bras as was going to get them on my week off before my due date.  He's latching on well which has made needing to wake up in the night a stress free time as I think we're both still half asleep.

It is all going well at the moment however I am aware that this could all change!

Good luck to everyone who is due soon and I'll try order you the same birth plan as me!

Well done - that sounds nearly as easy as the births where upon you simply sneeze and the baby pops out, clean, and wrapped in white egyptian cotton swaths!

Awww the start of your labour was the exact same as how mine went.  Were you as surprised as i was when you didnt get contractions after your water went!!

I'm really pleased that things went good for you.  Especially the breast feeding.

Marina:)
