DIA - 2 lb ! excellent progress. I can see that 1st 10lb being yours by 31/8. Yaah!

Thanks for you birthdays wishes, i was a bit miffed at hitting 46 but today the woman next door has hit 50 and her husband and kids have put a 10 foot poster saying so outside the house........ so that mad me laugh. I hope no one ever does that to me.
Re- saving points . You can track your points from mondays. I do, its to compensate for my 'sod it sundays' that I occcassionally have. I guess you are on much lower level of daily points than me so its easier for me to save a couple of points a day.  You could abandon your girls nights out until you hit goal but I suspect that is too much to ask.  Now I spend my saturday nights watching a film on TV with himself but when I was younger I went out at 5.30pm on friday and didnt show up at home again until sunday evening!

I am worried about KB ,  I hope she isnt in hiding.  perhaps she is too busy having fun in the sun.

Sorry guys I haven't fallen down a hole, been stupidly busy: life, work and family always seem to get in the way - but didn't stop me getting sunburnt despite only an hour in the sun wearing factor 40...!!!

Rubbish week this week, 0.5lbs off for the second week in a row - really annoyed, I know I shouldn't be and I know if the same happened to a friend I would highlight that a loss is still a loss, its better than putting ON 0.5lbs but I'm just feeling frustrated didn't go over my points at all, tracked religiously and ate the required points but still nothing like 2lbs losses I had been getting.

I know that weight loss slows down over time but jeez, it's only been 6weeks or so, if I'm destined to be only losing 0.5lbs a week it'll be 10yrs+ before I'm in a size 12/14!!

Alcohol is out this week, going back to not eating all my points only 2/3 under a day as it worked in the past - I hope it's just my bodies way of having a little joke and that next week it will pay off...feeling a bit disheartened so had a few biscuits with my tea at work but I've pointed them in so here's hoping. I've had 22pts out of my 24pt allowance today and planning on a cup of tea, a book and an early night.

Despite my grumblings, you guys are doing great!! DIA - 2lbs is fantastic, that 1 stone lost it clearly in sight now, very pleased (and slightly jealous) for you!

Hoping to build up the courage to go swimming on Friday or in the next week or so, thought about leaving swimming until I had lost a good stone or so but realised I need to kick start my metabolism.

NOT A WHINGER, a frustrated slimmer. I got very fat gaining far less than half of a pound every week. I worked out I got fat gaining only about 5lb a year.  So you keep going hun.

I used cross stitching to help me stop smokming, it kept my hands busy, i didnt cross stich before and i dont cross stich now.  I am thinking that reading may help me with the evening munchies.  I figure watching TV goes with thoughtless eating but reading needs more concentration. I have just finished 'Pillars of the Earth' and am moving on to 'Eat, Love Pray' and The Boy in Stripped Pyjamas.

Where do you want to be by 31st Aug?

KB ...... I'm not going to say a  loss  is a  loss as I remember how disappointed I was the other week with only half off and  had stuck religiously to the points.

I'm wondering though ... that dreaded word ... EXERCISE ... are you doing enough.  My weight loss was sparodic at the beginning so if you remember, I started with the lateral thigh and then progressed to gym class and my weight loss seems to have picked up.  I know working shifts makes it difficult but perhaps a dvd at home and 20 mins a few times a  week (I don't in any way mean to sound preaching ....just running ideas)

What we don't want  you to do is get really disheartened and give up ... that's what normally happens to me.  Try and think of it as 1/2lb a week almost 1 stone in 6 months - and jf you consider 10lbs is a  dress size  :-)  BUT you've had good weeks where you have lost more so keep your chin up chuck!

Damanda .... I love cross stitch ... and have occasionally used it as a  means to keep my hands busy, especially when I'm at home and alone and there's nowt on the telly and all I want to do is eat (sad singleton and all that lol).

Urgh how the years pass eh ... it's my birthday in August ... I'll be 44 and hopefully another stone lighter *wink wink*

Thanks Manda, frustrated really is the word to use - feel as though I'm getting over the disappointment of Monday, that is the part that I like about WW, every week seems to go so fast helps to keep me focused even if things don't go my way all the time!

Hmm Aug 31st...I've lost 8lbs in 6 weeks so I would like to lose perhaps 10lbs in 8 weeks = 18lb in just over 3 months, yeah I would be happy with that - but if the weight loss gods are listening - if I lost more that would be great!!

In an ideal world I would like to have lost 2.5stone by Xmas then I'll be down to 13stone then I would be celebrating

Is anyone else collecting 'flip flop' stickers for a summer cookbook at their meetings? Or do you have it already...? Always curious to see any lovely low point meals!

Hi DIA =)

That damn word - exercise, it is definitely my enemy - chatting to friends and colleagues about it and I just don't get the endorphin rush that everyone talks about making them want to go back and continue - I just get hot, sweaty and knackered! BUT, today is pay-day so I will go and get myself a fitness DVD to try - does anyone have a recommendation? That I think I could manage to keep it up, as you say 20 mins is nothing really - not preaching at all, if it works it works and I'll be so happy!

I might get Natalie Cassady's DVD, I know she put the weight back on but she looked great!!

Hey KB

I'm with you on the getting all hot and sweaty and red faced with exercise but sadly I thinks it's a  necessary evil and I have to say, I'm seeing a  change in my body shape.

I don't have any recommedations for a dvd but I do know there are certain ones out there that split exercise into smaller chunks for the busy person.  I think Davina did one a while back.  You maybe just do 10 mins every other day but each day concentrates on various parts of the body ... rather than sticking on a  dvd that's gonna take you 45+ mins from warm up to cool down.

I cooked a  really gorgeous curry the other night from a recipe on the web - it was delicious ... I'll post the recipe, if you like mmmm mmmm and only 4.5 points per portion an extra 3 points if you have it with rice :-)

I definitely think your weight loss for the end of August is do-able ...... the challenge begins :-)

I'll have a look out for the bite-size DVD Davina has a few out so I'll check her out first. A necessary evil I agree - let's see how I get on!

A curry recipe would be great, I'm always stuck for meal ideas - decided I'm going to have oven baked haddock fillets (1.5pts) with veg rice (3) today only 4.5pts and it always make me feel full!

When is your son's wedding, was that originally in August? Have you found an outfit yet?

Below is the recipe I mentioned ... I halved the ingredients -= ate one, froze one and it was lovely.

I think my  son is thinking Sept/Oct now for the wedding .. I have a Emerald Silk Karen Millen dress I bought for a  wedding a  few years ago .. it was a  14 but (being as I'm larger on top) had it tailored to fit ... now I couldn't breathe in it ... so hoping to work real hard and it will be too big and may buy something even better lol   That's my aim anyways.

Lamb Kheema with Peas

Kheema is a traditional Indian dish made of spiced ground meat, usually combined with peas or potatoes. This is usually made with chicken or lamb, however it's also great with ground turkey or beef. I love this dish because it is easy to make and taste great. Serve this with brown rice as a perfect compliment. Leftovers make great stuffed peppers!

Servings: 4  Size: 3/4 cup  Time: 35 minutes  Calories: 294  Points: 4.75 ww points

  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter or ghee
  • 1 lb lean ground lamb shoulder
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 chili pepper, minced (or more to taste)
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and fresh pepper
In a large saute pan, heat ghee or butter and onions on medium heat. Cook about 8 minutes.Add garlic and cook another 2 minutes.

Add ground meat to pan and brownSeason with salt, pepper, cumin, coriander, cayenne, chili powder, turmeric, garam masala and cinnamon. Stir well. Add chopped chili pepper, cilantro, bay leaf, tomato sauce and 1/2 cup of water. Reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer about 15 minutes. Add frozen peas and simmer covered another 5-10 minutes.

Enjoy
