Hi Damanda and Kinsk, the more the merrier

Damanda - 7lbs in 3/4 weeks is great, I've managed 7.5lbs in 5weeks so your doing great. I have a lot to lose too so your in good company, we'll all get there eventually. I don't have scales at home either so each week is a bit nerve-wracking as I haven't been able to prepare myself before the WI!!

Kinsk - it's always good to hear from people who return to WW (even if you might not think that) as it shows me that it does work and that people can reach their goal weight.

Are people's goal weight the same as their 'healthy' BMI weight? Mine is but even a stone heavier than I 'should be' would do me!!

doitagain, your weekend sounds a bit like mine a bit of everything - nothing seems as important in the sunshine until WI day looms! Great news about your sneak peak at the scales - 2lbs off would be brilliant! Let us know how you get on.

Hello Kitty boo and Doitagain. I have been reading what you both say and think I am in a similar boat. I have been sticking to WW for 3 weeks but the weight loss is really slow  just 7lbs and I have a lot to loose.  today is the end of my 4th week and I don't feel as if I have lost anything. I don't have scales at home so i will have to wait and see how I get on later.   If its ok with you I will pop back and see how you are getting on. Cherrio :o)

Hi Damanda

7lbs in 3 weeks is an excellent start - It's taken me SIX weeks to lose 9lbs!!

It's hard when you start a  diet plan, you always want to lose loads of weight to keep you motivated (that's how my mind works, anyways) but as the powers that be say, the slower you lose it, the easier it is to keep off.

Feel free to pop by and let us know how you are getting on

Right I'm hauling myself back on the ww wagon as I've hit 11st again.  Originally started off at 11st11, got down to 10st5 about 18 months ago, my back flared up, I stopped exercising and the weight crept back on, started back in January and lost about 7lbs, stopped going to meetings and have now hit 11st again. You are both doing really well, and Damanda 7lbs in 4 weeks is good, it's 1 3/4lbs a week which is perfect, you should aim for an average of 1-2lbs a week anymore and it's not necesarily fat that you are losing. Have just been planning my meals for the week and am about to walk to the shop to stock up. So today - B - yogurt 2.5 L - fennel & tomato soup 0 points, pancetta 3 points, bread 2 points D - Chicken breast 3 points, salad 0 points, dressing 1 point, pitta bread 2 points milk and sugar 2 points So that's 15.5 points so far, I'm on 20 a day.

Hiya Kinsk

Well done you for losing the weight ...  on any diet I have been on before - sometimes the easiest part is losing it ... it's the keeping it off that I find the hardest as I always go back to my old eating habits so this is why I decided to try and stick to WW  way of  life.

Blimey you're menu for the day looks good and so different from mine lol

B - 2 weetabix & skimmed milk 2.5
L  - 1 crumpet & butter, melon & prawn mix with lettuce leaves 3
A - Starbucks skinny latte 1.5
D - homemade WW chicken curry & rice 7
S - Sugar free jelly with oranges .05

14.5 total ... I'm on 19 points and will probably have some WW biscuits with a  cup of tea this evening.

I find the jelly absolutely fab ... I make them up X4 using a tin of mandarins in their own juice and a  packet of hartley sugar free jelly and normally eat one around 4pm which is when I get my sugar craving and for some reason, it fills a  hole ... I can definitely recommend it if you have a  sweet tooth.  If you leave out the fruit, the jelly is 0 points so you could effectively eat it all day lol

AW! thanks for the welcome. I wasn't sure how you would take it because you have been just the two of you for a few weeks now.
I lost 4lb today so that is 11 total. Yhay!
I know that is quite good but the first few weeks you always loose some fluid so I expect it to slow down now to 2 lb per week. I do have a lot to loose - over 100lbs so I am in this for the long haul. I have had back problems for years and gradually i have become more and more immobile and less fit so....... more weight.! Finally I got the courage to go to the doctor and insist that it wasn't just being so heavy that causes my back problem........... and she agreed. I am now going to physio and have a gentle exercise programme. I do mean gentle. 4 x 10 minutes walks a day and 4 sets of gentle strengthening exercises per day. My aim is to get fit enough to visit my family in UAE in February next year.
I will keep checking in. I haven't quite got to grips with this message board. Is there a way to mark forums or threads as favourites?

4lbs is awesome, well done you

I've got about 58lbs to lose, so I'll be here for a while longer yet! It's great to have goals to aim for Xmas is looking more realistic for me to have made a noticable difference to my weight even though i doubt i'll be at a healthy BMI. As I work shifts my meals are all messed up so i rarely have a breakfast lunch dinner but here's what i had today:

WW chilli and rice - 7pts
Go Ahead bar - 3pts
Soup and 2 slices of bread - 3.5pts
Banana - 2pts
Total - 15.5pts

My allowance is 24pts so need to add something else before I go to bed - think this is my downfall, I don't feel hungry or get too busy at work, so I don't eat but then as I'm down on my points I don't lose that much at WI...do you think this would make a difference?

Damanda - not sure about marking forums/favourites apart from marking them as favourites on your brower, don't think you can do that on the forum itself - I may be wrong though...

Good luck tomorrow doitagain!

That's me resolved never to step on my scales at home again.  Just WI and lost 1lb - which is a  loss I know, but I was still hoping for 2 - typical eh!  I'm really working hard at the exercising and I'm thinking it's because most days I'm 1 or 2 points under my allowance so this week I resolve the eat EXACTLY 19 points every day - this will be my mission.

The problem I have is I'm so stingey with my points throughout the day, for fear of being starving - filling up on things that have 0 or 1/2 point whereas I should be eating say ... a Go Ahead bar like KB

Good luck to all this week -Damanda -  4lbs loss .... GO YOU! Great achievement.

Maybe we should hold a tally of weight lost every week - so we can see how great we're doing?

Very true, plus lets face it none of us put 1 stone, 2 stone, 3 stone on in a week did we!  So it's not going to miraculously fall off in a week.

Sugar free jelly is my saviour, I usually have one about 4ish too.  I really like the ones hartleys do in the tubs - raspberry and cranberry, blueberry and something, they're not quite as sweet.  Somewhere I have a really nice recipe for lemon and lime curd made with hartleys sugar free jelly, it goes really nice on toast.

Today -
B - strawberry actimel 1 point, blueberry smoothie with skimmed milk 1.5 points (Have just read an article that blueberries could be linked to shifting flabby bellies!)

L - a kind of kedgeree thing, wholegrain basmati rice 2 points, smoked haddock 1.5 points, tomatoes, peppers, onions etc. 0 points.

D - Omelette, 2 eggs 4 points, 3 slices parma ham 2 points, 1 points worth cheese.

milk and sugar 2 points, meeting a friend for drinks tonight so 2 gins and diet tonics 2 points

So 17 points so far, might up the cheese a bit in my omelette.

I know we all sigh and say only a 1lb but it's still a 1lb in the right direction and you are 2lbs lighter than if you'd put one on Wink  The leader at the meetings I go to has a blob that it the equivalent mass to a 1lb of human fat, when you sit it in your hand it makes you realise how much has actually come off so dont be too disheartened.

I used to have a week where I would be prefect, get on the scales hoping for big things only to be disappointed but then the next week it would catch up.  This works both ways though I've had weeks where I've fallen off the wagon got on the scales and thought I;d got away with it only for it to get me the next week.

I LOVE your way of thinking Kinsk!

I think I set my self the task to lose 1 stone in 8 weeks and I only have 4lbs left to go and 2 weeks ... so I must try harder :-)

So far today:

B  -  Weetabix & skim milk 2.5
L  -  Bagel, v low fat (yuk) soft cheese & smoked salmon  5
A  -  Starbucks skinny latte 1.5
S  -  Jelly & peaches 0.5
D  -  WW Lasagne 6

15.5 points - I'm off to Jazzercise this evening so will be eating dinner late - to compensate I will have 2 WW caramel wafers 3 points.

Hi all, I have had a day of dawdling, I have no energy. I have a busy day tomorrow so that will pep me up. I hope. Thanks for all the positive comments and welcome. I really do appreciate it.

DIA - 1 lb is good enough,  you are one step closer to your sons wedding and looking the best you can be. Remember the photos will be around for along time.

KB - I wonder if you eat often enough , i hear what you say about your shifts and saving points in case you are hungry I have done that too. What i have learned is that eating boosts your metabolism so if you eat 6 times a  day you will lose the more weight that if you eat the same food but in only 2 or 3 meals a day.  Does that make sense?

I have a few general observations if that is ok.

Never weigh at home, the disappointment is too risky, I have been derailed by that in the past and I have friend who for as long as I have known her (15 years) it seems she has been on a diet. She was 11 stone then, she is now over 14. She flits from diet group to group, WW, RC, SW, lighter life, Cambridge, food combining, hay diet the F plan -she has done the lot many times. When actively dieting she weighs herself far too often and it puts her off.  Throw the scales out.

It has taken me 30 years to gain this weight so i figure it will take me at least 18 months to get it off.  Actually in my life I have lost over 40 stone , its just that i have gained 50!. You know, lost 2 stone , gained 2 and a half and so on. Embarassed
I try to avoid too much reliance on WW products, they may be low points but they aren't healthy or filling. Try making a butternut squash soup, a chilli, curry or Bolognese packed with veggies and eat it with whole-wheat pasta or a jacket potato. You can make loads and freeze in portions. The WW site 'recipe builder' is great for allowing you to point up your recipe and then split it into portions.
Not much veg and fruit in much of what people are saying they eat.  Today I had ;

Breakie - Bran flakes and small banana (waitrose do really little fair trade bananas)
Glass of grapefruit juice

Lunch -Fish fingers, beans and whole meal bread with flora light
Fresh Pineapple and 1/2 fat creme fraiche

Afternoon snacks -carrot and celery sticks with dip made from Total 0% with chopped chives and a splash of balsamic vinegar
sugar free jelly
6 brazil nuts

Dinner - home made sweet potato and cannellini bean curry with jacket potato
side salad, chopped cucumber, celery, beetroot, cherry tomato, carrot, sweetcorn  and peppers.
WW carrot cake - i do like this one and its only 1 point, i really appreciate a cup of tea and a slice of cake after dinner.

So if I know so much why am I so overweight?   Surprised   Its simple, i don't do what i know is right as far as eating is concerned and i don't do any exercise.  I am determined that this time i am going to do it right Perhaps i should change my screennie to Doitright? LOL

So its healthy eating - no miracle 'loose 14lb in 5 days' rubbish-  and gradually improving my cardio fitness and getting my back problem improved so i can join  a gym

I am 46 years old and i have only been in a gym once in my adult life! Is that a record?

So how about you all, do you exercise? I always hear women at slimming clubs talking about their very busy lives and how they don't have time to excercise and i guess i say the same but i can always find the time to go to pizza shop. It must be about the choices we make.

Right, thats me done preaching for today Smile

wishing you all a good night
