I was on holiday at my parents house. On the Thursday eve my Mum, Dad and I were at my sister's helping her and her husband with the gardening, and moving 3 tonnes of Cumbrian slate chips with a wheelbarrow! So we got home exhausted and were all in bed before 10.

Next morning my Mum and I were watching BBC breakfast when the presenter announced MJ had gone. We both gasped and stared at each other in shock.

(It is uncanny because during our summer holidays when I was a child, there was always some big news the week we were on hols.)

If not me, then who;
if not now, then when?

HAving been woken at 4 am by the thunder that night, I was getting the washing in off the line outside (like you do!) and my husband told me when I came in that Michael was dead. We sat together in bed watching the tragic story

I was in the lounge with my partner who was watching tv, and I logged on to Facebook to see someone had commented on what was happening on BBC news. Me and my other half then spent the next hour or so going between BBC, CNN and Sky news trying to see what had happened.

I saw loads of status updates on Facebook and then turned on the radio to hear Wogan play a Michael Jackson song and then start saying how sad it all was.

I'm surprised at how un-shocked I was by it all. It sounds morbid but I suppose I've always compared him in terms of sheer massiveness and popularity to Elvis and just always thought for some reason that an early demise would be imminent. I feel so sorry his children and the rest of his family, they clearly adored him.

I was on a beach in southern Spain, and had just been swmming in the sea late at night with a friend. I got out and checked my phone and had a text from my Mum from England saying that there are 'rumours that Michael Jackson may be dead'.. I asked her to keep me updated and half an hour later she text to say it had been confirmed.

I was very shocked and upset, and I told the Spanish people who I was with too, and they were equally as shocked, which just shows what an impact he'd made worldwide.

On holiday in spain, must have been about 1am, just got back to the room, my boyfriend turned on the TV it was all over sky news. Then heared people yelling it up the beach to each other and the responses of those who thought it was a joke, then people showing them it was for real (guess they checked the net via their mobiles), then it went a bit spookily quiet, as they processed it was for real.

My boyfriend actually said it will be prescription drugs, as he's a wrestling fan and more than a few wrestlers have died in a similar manner. The shocking thing is the way in America perscription drugs seem to be given out like candy if you have enough money to pay for private medical care.

I was on a plane coming back from Lanzarote.  As we landed and people started turning on their phones, some girls in front read it out.  I thought it was a joke until Mistermabob's brother picked us up at Manchester Airport and said it had been on the radio whilst he was driving to pick us up.

Isn't that what killed Heath Ledger as well?
