In Response to Re: Where were you when...:
Off on a tangent for a second, watching the news on Friday night they interviewed a former Jackson family lawyer who said he'd long been concerned about MJ's use of prescription drugs and warned that one day MJ would " wake up dead "  - ?!!
Posted by Trace

I heard that as well and thought 'you muppet' for a supposed lawyer he sounded way to happy to be talking to the press

Hi everyone

I had heard about Michael being rushed to hospital just before bedtime.

I thought nothing of it until I switched on Breakfast on Friday am just before 7 - it was a shock.

I was talking to my friends about prescription drugs - its really sad that people can die from prescription drugs in the case of Heath Ledger as well.

I'm sure that people in my generation will remember him for his achievements in his prime.

It was 10.30pm when we found out via a news flash on the telly.  Me and him had just come in from having a large debate about having a second baby whilst having a fag in the garden and i moved to do the washing up whilst still yabbering and he went towards the living room and then all of a sudden he "shhhuush" me.  I knew it was serious so came running soapy hands.

When i reached him he said michael Jacksons dead!!

I was in my room and I can't remember exactly what I was looking at (I was online) but I read he had suffered a cardiac arrest and not long after I had Sky News on for any news so it was on there I heard that he had died.

I was on  the net late at night. But actually I am not that fussed that he died, so it doesnt seem that important to recall.

I had been working at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds and was on the train back home, when I logged onto facebook on my phone and saw 2 peoples status updates. So I rang my sister and she confirmed it, just as the train was pulling into my station

I was just going to bed at about 11pm when my boss texted me "Oh my god", so was just about to text him back to ask what he was going on about when I received another text from my friend saying "I can't believe what's happened . . . can't believe MJ is dead!"  So I turned on the TV and watched it all unfold on the news!

I still can't believe it now . . . am truly and utterly devastated!
RIP MICHAEL JACKSON  -  YOU WERE THE BRIGHTEST STAR HERE ON EARTH AND NOW YOU'RE THE BRIGHTEST STAR IN HEAVEN!!!!

I didn't have the tv or radio on at all thursday night or friday morning, so it was only when I was talking to my Reception class at snack time, telling them that I was going to a concert that evening, that one of the little 5 year olds told me "a pop star died, it was on the news". When I asked if they knew who it was they couldn't remember, but one little boy piped up "he had the same second name as me" so later I had a look on the internet and saw it was MJ. I was shocked to be honest, but not so much as when I heard the news about Princess Diana, I remember that shook me up quite a bit.

What's so good about another person anyway? All they do is

i had gone to bed fairly early on thurs as i didnt feel well but my OH had seen the news that he'd been taken to hospital. he then went to bed before they announced it. fri i was eating my breakfast and had the beeb on and they announced it. i was literally so shocked my spoon was halfway up to my mouth and i couldnt move for minutes. went and told the OH and he was shocked too.

i remember i was in college for 9/11 and my friend drove me home, they announced it on the radio and we both thought it was a sick joke! got home and watched the live coverage for hours.

when princess di died my radio alam had come on and all they were playing was music with lots of solemn drums, then they announced it.

lots of others too but i think i will always remember this one.
