That's the thing with Michael, even if you weren't a fan you can relate to at least one of his songs.  It's what makes him a genius and a legend.

I'm still in shock.

I loved his early stuff too, and do think he was a genius performer.

Very troubled man, who I hope now is at peace.

I managed to miss the news of this totally on Thursday night and Friday morning, and it was one of my 5 year old kids in my class that told me "a pop star has died you know". I was really shocked and more sad than I thought I would be on hearing the news.

I don't know what I think of him as a man really, definitely went through a "hating him" phase when he did the whole earth song/ I am Jesus stage, but it's clear he was very misunderstood and lived a sad and troublend life. All that aside I loved loved loved so much of his music, both growing up and still today. Beat It and Wanna Be Starting Something are two songs absolutely guaranteed to get me up dancing (badly) and She's Out of My Life is just beautiful.

RIP

I still can't believe that he has actually gone. Frown

I always enjoyed Michael's music, I don't think any of his songs were less than perfect. It is only now that his music is being played non-stop in tribute that I realise what an amazing body of work he created.

I was born in 81 so singing along to MJ songs, hearing them at school discos, making up dances in the playground and trying to moonwalk made up a lot of my childhood. I'm sure that for a lot of us Michael made the soundtrack to a lot of our good times and happiest memories.

And now he's in Heaven. I pray Michael has found the peace and happiness he never had in life.

If not me, then who;
if not now, then when?

LEGEND. That word is over used, But he was one for sure.  The music he wrote, the dancing. Pure talent.
I was never a mad fan of his. I liked some of his songs. But only now he has died, I can appreciate the talent he had. That comes around once in a lifetime. As the saying goes, dont know what you've got till its gone.

I was watching some of his stuff on youtube, and his dancing, was amazing. I could watch him all day. Proper entertainer. Kind of sad now, never got the chance to see him live.

Hope he is at peace now, He did come across as a tortured soul, what with his childhood taken from him, the abuse he recieved and all that.
I was reading in the newspaper where, Michael was forced to strip and be examined and photographed over them false molesting claims. It was painful to read, his quotes. It must have been so humiliating for him . So sad.

I'm sorry but just because he released one decent album in the early 80s does not excuse his behaviour in later years. You do not pay $20 million hush money to a 13 yr old boy because nothing happened. Dead men can't sue and I'm sure the stories will soon be flying out thick and fast and the "real" wacko jacko will be revealed. His musical talent is no excuse for what he did.

It would be like excusing Ian Huntley's behaviour because he was a good caretaker.

However,
VVRROOOOOOOOMM!!

I think I'm the only one who will agree with you Benz.

At work I am the only one willing to say I'm not sad. There seems to be a big elephant in the room, that people who liked his music don't want to talk about.

I've been surprised actually at the quietness on this side of it all.

i agree re the music, he was exceptionally talented.. amazing dancer, singer and writer.. my little one and i did a tribute dance to man in the mirror (my ave) and i actually cried.

i just feel his life was so tragic, and the unanswered quesions about what really happened with children etc puts a dark shadow.

he was legendary but his life became so weird and strange.. i hope he is at peace and i hope his children are exposed to a more normal upbringing now.

it really is a lesson in not pushing children into fame at such a young age, it destroys childhood and any understanding of normality..

sad, very sad
(and am hating the newspapers glee at being able to sell more papers by writing and rewriting the same old stuff.. let it go)

Maybe if they're sick of all the drama and can afford to pay.

To turn it on the other side.

I don't know about you, but if my child was being sexually abused or molested, there would be no amount of money in the world that I would take to let a child molester roam free. You can't put a price on your child's well being.

I don't think that looked bad on Michael's part, but on the parents of the accuser.

I did chuckle when I read 'one good album'. You mustnt have heard any of the other albums which won a mulitiple of awards and acolades, and sold by the millions
