I have just had the Kerastraight treatment at my local salon in Plymouth and although very expensive (£150) it has transformed my hair, I have quite thick shoulder length hair that I straighten with GHDs and it was getting quite dry and crispy on the ends. This treatment has put it in amazing condition and it is smooth, shiney and straighter than I have ever seen it!  apparently this will last 3 - 4 months. I can't wash it for the next three days but it looks amazing at the moment and I am assured that when I wash it on Sunday it will look even better! seems too good to be true but it is billed as being a straightening product suitable for hair that is coloured, damaged or fragile, including bleached which Yuko definately isn't. it gives a similar effect to Yuko system but is semi permanent and totally free from harsh chemicals. don't quite know how the science works but my hairdresser is raving over it and assuming it still looks and feels as good after its wash then I am too.

I have the semi permanent blow dry and it is amazing - I've had it done 3 times at Headquarters in Bovingdon and I don't think I can live without it now!  It's the same principal, can't wash your hair for 3 days straight after application, but wow, it gives me hair that just behaves itself - even in the rain.  I have coloured and high lighted thick hair and if it works on me, it should be even better on anybody else.

I've been thinking of trying this... I reckon it's quite expensive though! Especially as it only lasts for a few months.

Yuko somehow seems like much better value - and incidentally its not true that you can't have your hair Yuko'd if its been bleached. I had mine done at Eleven in London and it had been bleached and highlighted. They just use a weaker dilution of the chemical. Although not all salons will do this. I had fantastic results with Yuko but since I had it done I've started wearing my hair shorter, so it's much easier to style and the expense doesn't seem worth it anymore. And MY it was expensive - it made my eyes water - but it did last almost a year before all the treated hair was cut off.

I would be really interested to know how your hair is behaving after you wash it though - because for £150 this is the kind of treatment I would definitely consider having as a 'special treat' occasionally, if not something I could afford every 4 months. I think it's less risky than Yuko too (I have heard horror stories when it goes wrong!).

Do keep us informed of the progress - I'd be really interested to know how long you feel the results last and stuff... and if the improvement in condition is lasting! :o)

Hi again, had it done in early August and put it through its paces with a holiday in eygypt, heat, pool and snorkelling in red sea but still it survived and was straight and smooth every evening after a wash and without straighteners, I did not use them once! its lasted well considering this and I am just about to go and have it done again as my xmas treat to myself! condition lasted and although its a bit bouncier now with my old kinks back its not as bad as it was, I would say the lovely smooth straightness lasted the 3 months promised and with no hols in the near future if I take care of the next try it might last longer. x
