Years ago I always heard that you should never use shampoo and conditioner together, that you should always use a separate shampoo and conditioner.

I have straight blonde shoulder length hair and my mum in law has got me some avon ginger shampoo and conditioner, I don't want to seem ungrateful and she's the sort that would notice that I'm using it.

So is it true that it's not good??

I don't think they do either job either well enough to use it on a regular basis.  I would use it when I'm in a rush or for overnight trips, washing makeup brushes (maybe).

i use one all the time! it took a while to find a good one, but i use another from avon (banana and coconut). its gorgeous, smells divine and does the job better than separate ones ive used in the past!

give it a try at least - if it doesnt work you can just say it doesnt suit your hair type (after all they wont all) and that way you wont hurt her feelinds!

I have also tried a shampoo and conditioner in one. They were fine when I was a kid (I used to use the Vidal Sassoon "wash and go") but as an adult and being all the more concious about my hair, the Aussie 2 in 1 really didn't do anything for me- I had to use a leave in conditioner where I normally do not- though my hair was slightly better then if I had just used a shampoo and nothing else, it was just not conditioned at a level I found suitable.

But then I am heavily into my delux hair care ranges! (Kerastase, Bumble&Bumble, Aveda....etc)

:)

Awww thanks guys, I'm going to give it a go and see how I get on.  I must admit it would be useful to take to the gym :)

I'm the same - never used one as an adult.... bet the ginger smells lovely though.

A tangent, but I use Origins Ginger Essence perfume in the winter and it is gorgeous, really spicy and "wintery"....

"and that's all i have to say about that..."

I refrain from using the shampoo-conditioner-in-one. I have tried using them but it does not really have great results. It leaves my hair dry and sometimes frizzy. But you can try it though, maybe it is compatible with your hair.
