Enjoy this summer Crocs fans as it this might be the last one you and those ugly clogs celebrate together. The reign of choosing comfort over style is over.
The company has announced they are laying off around 180 members of staff and closing 100 stores in a major restructure.
The brand says they have deviated too far from their core line and will refocus their efforts on that. In recent years the brand has diversified adding ranges of boots, deck shoes, handbags and sunglasses to their repertoire. The move which worked for other one-trick-pony shoe brand UGG, has not been as successful for Crocs, who have decided they need to go back to their roots.
"We have identified the key strategic and structural improvements that we expect will allow the company to achieve its potential," Andrew Rees, Crocs' president, said in a statement.
"We have a clear, well-defined strategy for addressing these issues and improving performance. Work is underway already to drive significant change throughout our company."
So long Crocs. You won't be missed.
