After six years as Creative Director at Mulberry, Emma Hill has resigned from her role following rumours of a spat with management.

Credited with turning Mulberry into a globally successful fashion house and helping it dominate the handbag market worldwide, Emma is said to be leaving the Brit brand due to what WWD is calling, "disagreements with management over creative and operational strategy."

So what next?

The creator of the Alexa, Del Rey and Willow Tote bag, plus conjurer of Fashion Week shows that have consistently left us all breathless, Emma's future is sure to be bright and shiny.

But while rumours abound that she's primed to take on the creative lead at Coach (Reed Krakoff is stepping down in June 2014), she's reportedly up against the likes of Marc Jacobs, Nicholas Ghesquiere, Derek Lam and Phillip Lim. Eek.

But what of Mulberry, you say? After being resurrected by Emma Hill's irreverent touch and knack of designing cult status handbags, Mulberry is sure to be on the hunt for its next genius.

Having issued two profit warnings since September however, it might be a speedy operation once dates and details of Emma's departure are confirmed.
