Alistair Carr is being replaced by Pringle of Scotland's in-house design team after just thirteen months as the label's Design Director.
Previously at Balenciaga, Marni and Cacharel, Carr joined Pringle last March following Clare Waight Keller's move to Parisian fashion house Chloe. But in a surprising announcement this week, the designer is already set to leave.
Though the true circumstances of his departure are still shrouded in mystery, along with his next move, Pringle CEO Jean Fang has told WWD the decision was mutual, adding: "I want to thank Alistair for all his great efforts and contributions at Pringle. We will miss him, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
But while Carr will stay with the label until mid June to direct the Autumn/Winter 2012 advertising campaign and oversee his last menswear collection, Fang is already looking towards the future.
Revealing plans to focus on smaller presentations rather than catwalk shows, the CEO sparked suspicion that the week's events may well be linked to financial issues, following the £11 million bailout the company received last November.
Whatever the reason behind Carr's departure, we hope to see a lot more from both Pringle and the designer! Albeit it separately...
