Mary Portas wants to bring clothing manufacturing back to Britain. Her channel 4 documentary, Mary's Bottom Line, sought to discover just how many shops use British products, and she was pretty miffed at what she found. Seeking to change this Mary has launched her own 'made in Britain' underwear range - Kinky Knickers - which has gone on sale on Boots' website this week.
This is about more than just pants though. Hopefully this venture will bring about further employment in the manufacturing industry in Manchester, as well as encourage the long-term skills necessary for further development.
Speaking in store on the day her knickers hit the virtual shelves, Mary said: 'It's brilliant to have Boots support on this, the women that shop here are exactly the women we had in mind when we developed the product... sassy, fun and, most importantly, appreciative of a great quality product!'
Kinky Knickers can be bought online at Boots.com for £10, with £1 going to Macmillan Cancer Support
