Gucci has launched a celebration of its iconic Bamboo Bag, a signature style of the Italian fashion house since 1947.

Now if you're not familiar with the history of the Bamboo, which is something you should rectify immediately, just know that it was incredibly innovative way back when, and remains exactly that today.

A favourite of among icons including Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, Florence Welch and Jessica Alba, Gucci has decided to celebrate the handbag all over again with a series of snaps on Twitter and Instagram.

Starting with these vintage beauties!

While the snap above of the Bamboo posing in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence's Piazza della Signoria (mouthful), makes us want to skip on over to Italy ASAP, actress Ilaria Occhini working it below in 1956 is a reminder of just how timeless the style really is.
