We review the glorious five star Landmark London Hotel and discover the best brunch in the city.

landmark hotel atriumThe very grand and luxurious Landmark London Hotel will make a stay in the capital a sumptuous experience. It boasts some of the largest guest rooms in London, so you know your stay will be one of luxury and decadence. The hotel originally had 600 rooms but upon renovation reduced the number by half meaning you have plenty of room to store all those shopping bags as well as being able to put your feet up on the super comfy sofas and beds. Plus, the Italian marble bathrooms have two sinks, a shower big enough for two and a bath to soothe aching feet after a day spent storming Oxford Street.

The impressive eight storey atrium complete with palm trees is glorious, with the sun shining down on people enjoying the renowned afternoon tea in the Winter Garden Restaurant. The light and airy space along with the waving palms certainly gives you that holiday vibe and has a definite Dubai-esque luxury about it.

As well as the divine Winter Garden restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner the hotel also has the kooky Mirror Bar, serving some of the finest champagne and cognac, is open from 4pm until late, so you can pop in for a drink after taking in a show or simply for a nightcap after dinner. If you're staying at the hotel from April the stunning new twotwentytwo restaurant and bar will be open for you to enjoy. With a diverse modern-european menu, varied grilled menu and helpfully categorised wine menus this bar is simply not to be missed.

The Landmark also has a fabulous little spa offering what they like to call ‘a complete well-being experience'. The spa features a 15 metre swimming pool, a whirlpool, sanarium, steam rooms, monsoon showers, a fully equipped gymnasium and four relaxing treatment rooms to indulge in the relaxing range of ESPA treatments on offer.

Location
Situated right next to Marylebone station, and a short stroll from the lovely Regent's Park, this central location is perfect for exploring all that London has to offer. The famed Madame Tussauds Waxwork Museum, Planetarium, London Zoo and Sherlock Holmes Museum are just a short walk from the hotel and you'll be just three tube stops from Oxford Circus and four from Piccadilly Circus, where you can experience London's best shopping, theatre and restaurants. Make sure you explore the streets around Baker Street station (just a short walk from the hotel) too, as there are fabulous little boutiques and places to eat that you shouldn't miss.

The Champagne Sunday Brunch. You simply cannot miss this food and bolly extravaganza. Held in the Winter Garden Restaurant this event is so popular we strongly advise booking in advance. The buffet brunch begins with a full English, with chunky sausages, creamy eggs Benedict, bacon and lighter-than-air omelettes. Follow this with European style delicacies such as smoked salmon, oysters, salamis and cheeses. But it doesn't stop there; the brunch also includes proper lunch dishes and a carvery. We enjoyed the roast pork and crackling and the beef with Yorkshire puddings. No, we're not finished yet, you simply must leave room for the decadent display of desserts. A whole mountain of tasty little treats such as cheesecake, trifle, éclairs, cookies and the chocolate fountain are there to finish if you have the room in your tummy. Hungry yet? Compliment this with a constant topping up of your champagne flute and you might think you're in heaven, and we think you'd be right.

Available on Sunday 22 March 2009, The Landmark's highly successful Champagne Brunch offers unlimited Taittinger Champagne, a sumptuous buffet lunch and live jazz for an all-inclusive price.  On Mothering Sunday, mums will also be offered a complimentary gift of a one day pass to the luxury Spa & Health Club.  The pass is worth £30.00 and allows full use of the Spa facilities including a swimming pool, sanarium and whirlpool.

The Landmark London is quite rightly a  member of Great Hotels of the World, for more information or to book please visit ghotw.com or call 0800 032 4254.
Prices start from £259 per night.
