We know it's something your mum always told you to do and you would therefore usually ignore it, but eating breakfast is the best way to kick start your day and get you up and alert. This is because the food replaces your liver glycogen - the brains's most accessible source of fuel - helping you stay focussed and switched on throughout the morning.
