The Monday debate: Now we’ve reached a population of 7 billion people, is there any need for us* to keep having babies?

That’s it, we’re done. As of yesterday there are now seven billion people clogging up an already overcrowded planet, which leads us to ask, is there really any need for us start (or continue) having babies?

After all we’ve firmly established that there are more than enough people around to ensure that the human race doesn’t die out, and with the planet’s precious resources being stretched thinner than ever, procreation isn’t the selfless act it once was.

Which brings us neatly to our question of the day: will you be having babies? Do you think having someone to look after you in your dotage is worth the financial, emotional and physical upheaval a child or three will bring? More women than ever are now choosing to remain childless, but we want to know what you think.
