Upon scouting for opinions of the Sandals resorts I was given the following answers: ‘it’s just for old people’; ‘a bit cringy’ and ‘for people in loveless marriages’ – I think this girl had just broken up with her boyfriend so we’ll ignore her contribution. It was pretty darn clear that some Brits don’t have a very high opinion of the ‘luxury included’ holiday resorts and, while we would agree that splashing the Sandals sign across the bottom of swimming pools etc is not very cool, in every other way Sandals excels at being a top-notch all-inclusive holiday experience.
Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa is located on a 27 acre site situated on Dickenson Bay, the islands best beach. It’s a mere 15 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport which means after the long plane ride, you’re just minutes from donning your swimsuit and reclining with cocktail in hand. The island’s capital, St John’s is just 10 minutes from the resort, perfect for those looking to get out and experience life beyond the pool.
The resort is split between the quaint Caribbean Grove side with its lush, tropical gardens and the newly designed Mediterranean Village. It has 373 rooms and suites in a whopping 25 difference categories so you’re bound to find the accommodation to suit you. From the signature rondovals with private plunge pool to the exotic Mediterranean penthouse ocean view suites, you’ll find a private bar included in each which is obviously terribly important. Oh, and massive beds, for er, sleeping?
