You are trying to get back to the office as quickly as possible during your lunch break but find yourself stuck in a hellish traffic jam. The boss calls and begins to scream down the phone, excoriating you for not doing your job properly. Do you:
Break out into a cold sweat, stammering and stuttering your apology, promising to get back immediately whilst abandoning your car and running to the tube?
Try to explain that the traffic situation is out of your control but that you will make up any time lost at the end of the day?
The boss doesn't have my number - and anyone else who calls knows I only come back to the office when my full hour is up OK?

When your boss gives you an assignment they usually:
Call you by the wrong name and rarely, if ever, give you enough time or information to successfully complete the job in hand.
Are brusque in manner and can be rushed in their explanations, but generally answer the questions that you have - if you can catch them before they stalk off.
The person who sits next to me usually lets me know what's going on - 'I only work here' is your motto.

If you had to describe your job you would say:
A dream come true, I've been working towards an opportunity like this for years. There's no way I can screw this up, my whole future depends on it.
It can be interesting and good experience. What I'm learning now might be beneficial in the future.
I see my job as a way to pay the rent, buy the latest trends and party at the weekends with my mates.

It's the end of the day and you and the boss find yourself in the elevator together. What do you talk about?
I wouldn't dare talk to them unless they talked to me first, and then it would only ever be about work issues. The power hierarchy is in full force in my office.
I'd probably try and get to know her/him better, try and find out something about their personal life perhaps. It makes sense to really know the people you work with.
Cant really say I know what my boss looks like, I only get glimpses of their back every now and again.

Your partner calls the office and tells you they're taking you out for dinner that night but the boss has other ideas, just as your about to leave you're told that you have to work late to finish a project. Do you:
Cancel dinner straight away. You know that your letting a loved one down but this really has to take precedence over their disappointment.
You cant understand why the schedule has changed, you thought you the deadline wasn't until the end of the week? This has ruined everything!
No way. I work 9 - 5 only. Work does not infringe on my social life. Ever.
