Super simple to make and oh so pretty - these big paper pom poms are perfect for a party, wedding or just to have around the house really.
They are also a cheap way of decorating a space and are manageable for even complete craft novices.
You will need for one pom pom:
8 sheets tissue paper (approx 50 x 75cm - but you can alter the size of the paper for different size pom poms)
String, twine or wool
How to make
Start by laying all the tissue paper out on top of each other in a pile.
Concertina the paper, short end to short end, in widths of about 5cm (like you are going to make a fan!)
Tie a length of string or wool (something strong) around the middle of your folded paper pile. Make sure it is secure, but be careful not to squish the paper.
Next using some sturdy scissors, trim each end of the paper stack into a curve. A different shape will create a different look when the pom pom is finished, so have a play around.
Next fan out each side of the paper, keeping the string in the middle, so that the two splayed fan halves spread out as far as they will go.
Carefully tease away each layer of tissue paper and puff up. Go around each side of the paper stack until you have a fully formed pom pom.
Tie the invisible thread to the string holding it all together and hang wherever you want.
