If you are on a calorie burning mission, it's time to grab a friend and hit the gym together as 64% of women push themselves harder when working out with a buddy.
Whether it be a touch of competitive spirit (ok, who are we kidding? We all know it definitely is that), or the fact that it's just more fun – women spend longer and work harder in the gym when they go with someone.
Research carried out by Virgin Active shows that people that workout with mates stay an extra six minutes in the gym and burn 41 more calories in a session.
Lone trainers will also only go to the gym six times a month as opposed to those who arrange to go with friends who go seven times a month.
What we want to know is does this research take into account the wine and chips we have afterwards when go with our mates? No? Just us? Oh. Awkward.
