If, after several attempts at maintaining a healthy lifestyle has failed and you’ve now lost the confidence to try again, Bupa is here to help.

The new ‘Bupa Pledge’ campaign offers to help the estimated 75% of us women in the UK who want to make a positive change in our lives. Shockingly over 25% of us admit to not feeling confident and comfortable enough to do this.

Bupa’s solution is simple, everyone is encouraged to join their facebook page and sign up to pledge to tackle one, or more of our health problems. It is based on the idea that if you publicly pledge to do something you are more likely to follow it through.

Whether it’s to quit smoking, cut down your alcohol intake, eat healthier or do more exercise Bupa has the tools to help you reach your goal. The facebook page offers free information, the option to track your progress, recipes and advice from experts.

The idea came about due to shocking figures revealing that unhealthy Brits cost the NHS £17.7 billion, Scary stuff! But even scarier, these experts predict the figure to rise to almost £33 billion a year by 2025.

Our purse strings are still pretty tight so if you’re searching for another reason to sign up for the pledge, Bupa’s figures show how many pennies you could save by ditching your bad choices and opting for a healthier lifestyle.

For instance, if you are a smoker, if you ditched the ciggies you could save £1,555 a year or by reducing the amount of units you drink you could save up to £200 a year. Think of next years extra cash to splurge on shoes, clothes and maybe even a holiday.

There is even more good news, for each person who signs up to pledge, Bupa will donate £1 to the British Heart Foundation.

If the prospect of a healthier lifestyle appeals to you, then visit their website to sign up and make your pledge now.
