Snack attack? Facebooks got the answer
I set myself a record this year. I waited until at least 6pm on New Years Day before I broke my first 2011 resolution and dug into the second half of my selection box. Admittedly this was because I was too hungover to face getting out of bed before this, but Im impressed with myself nonetheless.
It appears Im not the only one with zero willpower. According to Hovis (the bread people, yall), the average British woman will consume over 1,092 unhealthy snacks this year. This sounds like a lot, but when you break it down, this is only 2.99 (recurring) per day, which doesnt seem too bad to me. That said, a slight upward incline has started to make me wheeze, and the last time I ran for the bus nearly ended in hospitalisation, so what do I know?
However, dont get those elasticated waistbands out just yet. Those clever people at the bread factory have developed a Facebook application to help you banish the snack monsters. Whether you want to introduce five a day into your diet or learn how to quit that mid morning snack (gulp), the app allows you to set yourself a time target, and gives you healthy meal suggestions to keep you going throughout the day and there are daily prizes to be won, as a prize for your persistence.
The campaign is being fronted by Olympic Gold Medalist Victoria Pendleton (pictured above looking like shes never been near a selection box in her life), and might just be the answer to all my healthy-eating-resolution prayers. Just as long as someone hides that last Curly Wurly bar
