From the moment Michelle Obama first stepped into the spotlight wearing a sleeveless dress her toned, sculpted arms began making waves among both young and middle-aged women around the world. Countless arm-baring shift dresses, ball gowns and tops later and the First Lady's arms are officially her trademark making as many headlines as the president's policies.
It's not just the sight of her incredible arms causing women everywhere to dust off their dumbbells though, it's the fact that Mrs Obama manages to achieve and maintain her athletic physique despite her role as First Lady, wife and mother. It suddenly makes those 'I don't have time to go to the gym' excuses seem a little, well, pathetic.
Her incredibly toned, defined arms and trim figure are apparently the result of daily workouts at 5.30am with her husband and personal trainer, Cornell McClellan. Mrs Obama completes a series of tricep pushdowns, using a pulley as resistance, and hammer curls done using a pair of dumbbells, all of which takes only nine minutes. On top of her nine-minute bingo wing blaster she also completes a gruelling fitness regime involving weight training, rope jumping and kick-boxing and follows a healthy balanced diet. Not bad for a woman of 45 years of age with a punishing work schedule and two young children.
