Five new fitness classes to try now

We have it on good authority that Zumba can actually boost your libido as well as whittling your waist and toning up arms, legs and bums. Caroline Parsons – Zumba Education Specialist says, “A lot of moves focus on swivelling the hip and waist area. The combination of hot moves in a fitness-party setting results in Zumba fitness being a great mood enhancer. Thanks to this mood enhancing element, people who take part tend to become empowered and confident which is essentially the secret to feeling sexy!” We say, yes please! If you can let go and enjoy the Latin dance-inspired fitness you can burn between 500-1000 calories an hour. You’ll be shedding pounds (and your clothes) in no time.

Roxy Sno Fit Workout
Bit of a ski bunny are you? Or wish you were? Well, get your body ready for some cross-country skiing with the Virgin Active meets Roxy Sno Fit Workout. Designed specifically to strengthen and tone legs, hips and your core the workout - developed in conjunction with Lesley McKenna, British Olympic Snowboarder - uses Gliding discs, agility drills and yoga to prepare your whole body for the rigours of the slopes, or even just so you can go jeans shopping without fear.

ViPR (pronounced "Viper")
Hmm, we have to admit we’re yet to be fully convinced by this humble rubber tube but apparently “the ViPR is an extremely effective training tool”. It’s almost indestructible and can be used in a variety of ways and exercises and is definitely making a mark with the male species. The ViPR is designed to provide a whole body workout, building muscle and burning calories through strength training. Frankly, we might stick with the Kettle Bells for now.

TRX Suspension Training
The TRX equipment may look a little intimidating but the reasoning behind its methods are extremely reliable. Traditional weight training often only works one muscle at a time whereas in any normal activity your body is usually relying on a combination of muscles all working together. The TRX recreates this, working multiple muscles and joints simultaneously meaning you limit your chances of injury as well as getting a super toned bod. Brilliant.

Jane Fonda Tribute
Our sister mag Harpers Bazaar voted this fitness class number one in the UK and we’re with them. Jane Fonda is the queen of the burn and we like nothing more than jumping around to a spot of ‘80s music while wearing a sweat band and furiously performing the ‘bicycle’. Work your butt off with some jumping jacks, the good ol’ grapevine and numerous lunges. Ooh, our thighs are smarting just thinking about it.
