Everyone knows that the Oscars are the best awards show in the world. But we all also know that they go on a little bit too long, and the awards part is sort of boring, and you’re forced to believe that making films is The Most Important Job In The World, and the luvvie-ness can get a bit cringey, and everyone’s speech will be a different spin on ‘follow your dreams’, and… well, you get the picture! So with that in mind, we’ve decided give out some awards of our own, based purely on A-lister’s performance at this year’s Oscars…

And the winner is… Jake Gyllenhaal
Just in case there were in doubts as to which hot guy ruled this year’s Oscar’s red carpet, Jake Gyllenhaal struck the killer blow during his red carpet interview. When asked what he’d been doing during the day of the Awards Jake replied, “I’ve been looking after my niece so my beautiful sister (Maggie, who was Oscar nominated for her role in Crazy Heart) could get ready,” Jake explained, before adding. “And making sure my amazing brother-in-law (Peter Sarsgaard who was part of the cast of Best Picture nominated film, An Education) could make it to the party on time.” Swoon.

And the winner is… Suzy Amis
Director James Cameron’s wife Suzy, wore a striking blue dress to support her husband at this year’s Academy Awards. She described the colour as Na’vi blue, in reference to the star’s of Cameron’s CG blockbuster, Avatar. Spare a thought for Suzy who was stuck in her Na’vi blue dress while James’ ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow saw her film, The Hurt Locker, dominate this year’s Oscars. It won six awards in total including five of the six categories in which it went head-to-head with Avatar.

With Hollywood mainstays Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin hosting this year, Oscars’ producers were worried the awards would prove a flop with teen viewers. Their solution? Ask some teen stars to present a couple of minor awards. Problem solved!

And the winner is… Mark Boal
Compared to last year’s debacle (chief culprit being our own Kate Winslet!) the 82ND Academy Awards had been a relatively tear-free event. That was until The Hurt Locker’s writer Mark Boal took to the stage. First, he dedicated his win to the men and women fighting in Iraq he met while researching the film things, before sparking mass bubbling and lumpy throats all round when he told the audience his dad, who “would’ve got a kick” out of his win, had died just weeks earlier.

The `Going the extra mile\' Award

And the winner is Ben Stiller
Nervous Oscars’ producers lost points last week when they cancelled Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Stiller’s Avatar baiting presenter’s turn for fear of upsetting James Cameron. Apparently no one informed Stiller of the change of plan though. The comedy star arrived on stage in full Na’vi make-up and threatened to stick his tail in the director’s “dragon” before handing out the best make-up award to the team from Star Trek.

Pity the reporter who asked Precious star Mo’Nique which party she planned to celebrate her Supporting Actress award win at. “We’ve [along with her husband Sidney Hicks] got our own private party in our hotel room,” Mo’Nique winked in reply. “And we’re going to party aaaalllll night!” No wonder Sidney has a twinkle in his eye.

And the winner is… Sam Worthington
Well, you have to admire Sam Worthington’s honesty at least. Stepping onto the Oscars’ red carpet, the action star was soon asked the traditional ‘who are you wearing’ question. “A Brioni tux,” he explained before shockingly confessing his shoes were, “just, [budget internet shoe store] Payless. Expensive shoes make me look like a goblin!” Have you never heard of lying man!?
