Yes, they arrived separately. Alright, they made sure they weren’t spotted anywhere near each other. And OK, she didn’t mention him when she collected her Orange Rising Star award. But Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson pulled the wool over no one’s eyes. By doing everything possible not to look like a couple, they ended up doing just the opposite. Ahh, quite sweet really.

And the winner is… James Cameron
Avatar might well be the highest ever grossing film at the box office and already have a stack of awards tucked under its belt, but its run of luck ended abruptly at the Baftas. Despite being nominated in eight categories, James Cameron’s masterpiece picked up just two minor awards on the night, for the best Special Visual Effects and Production Design. To add insult to injury, the star movie at this year’s Baftas, winning five awards, was The Hurt Locker, a film directed by Cameron’s ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow. Ouch

So, 21 February 2010 was a good day for Carey Mulligan. Sure, the Bafta judging panel decided her performance in An Education was the best by a Leading Actress in the last 12 months. But what will she really remember the date for? Being given a whopping 9/10 for her red carpet look by handbag.com’s fashion team, of course. “Carey Mulligan looked every inch the winner-in-waiting in a beautiful monochrome floral Vionnet gown,” we explained. “A true individual.”

We’d like to say, “It was a close race that could have gone one of any number of ways.” We’d like to… but we can’t. Audrey and her film, Coco Before Chanel, may have been given nothing by the Bafta judging panel, but it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the French actress as she handily won our best hair and make-up look of the night award. “Her bright lipstick, front-rolled ’50s hairstyle and flawless complexion gives us serious make-up and hair envy,” our hair and beauty team swooned.

Not many 57-year-old men wear their hair up in a bun but then Mickey Rourke isn’t like many other men. Last year’s Leading Actor Bafta winner looked like the cat that got the cream on the red carpet, as he escorted his gorgeous 26-year-old fiancée, Russian model Elena Kuletskaya, to the evening’s awards. If wearing your hair in a bun produces these results we can expect to see this style on men the world over very soon.
