Spring summer hair trends updos
By Veronica Kirby
\r\n\r\nClean lines and easy updos keep hair off the face this season and the closest thing to a fringe was a sharply side swept low parting. Play lots with textures and shapes, dare to make a statement. The square-shaped high top, synonymous with the sex appeal of supermodels in the \'80s such as Brigitte Nielsen, Isabella Rossellini and more recently Stella Tennant, makes a powerful comeback. Trend leaders may opt for quirkier versions, such as an overstated quiff or super lacquered hair. For inspiration think Alice Dellal and Kelly Osbourne.

Basso & Brooke showcased the perfect example of the sexily androgynous square top hair, the key to this look is lots and lots of volume to give that great height, then keep the sides really tight to the side of the head; plenty of product is the key to keeping this style in place.

A sharply pulled back ponytail is given interest with the creation of two partings creating the v-shape in the hair. Section your hair off to create the partings and then pull loose a few tendrils if you want to soften the look.

Twists and folds were thrown together in different shapes, forms and proportions to create forward \'40s silhouettes that Dita Von Teese would happily be seen wearing. Expect the Hoxton crowd to be sporting versions of this come the summer.

This classic chignon oozes glamour and makes a wonderfully regal evening do. To create this look you need a textured base from which to mould and shape the hair, giving the style staying-power. At Prada, stylist Guido gave this look an extreme edge by spraying with heavy-duty laquer but a quick spritz will do for an everyday look.

Here at Handbag Towers we all love this sweet side bun, seen in many guises at the spring/summer shows. Marni kept the hair sleek and shiny but for a more relaxed look just let the ends poke out of the bottom of the bun and create texture through the lengths by just rough drying.
Narciso Rodriguez,hair styling,hairstyles,Spring Summer 2009

Height in the hair was seen over and over again. The models at the Rodriguez show were treated to an extra couple of inches with some root lift and gentle back combing from the hairline through to the crown with hair gently secured at the back of the head. A great way to create understated glamour on a night out.

Perfect for the beach or for hot days in the office, this gentle twist of the hair along the sides of the head keeps hair off the face but is far more interesting than a simple ponytail and looks ultra cute yet elegant all at once.

Surprised to see a model smiling? Yes, so were we but her hair looks so fabulous who wouldn\'t be smiling with such a sleek, shiny modern take on the updo? The Ferre models all had their hair swept to one side and pulled forward into a bun/topknot resting gently at the hairline.
