Retro reminiscence

Everyone knows designers look to the past to get inspiration for the new season's collections and this time round, so did the session stylists. At Antonio Marras hair had a distinct '20s feel, while at Tommy Hilfiger hair pins and neatly manicured waves screamed 1940s glamour. "This season it's all about a neo-classical version of styles from the past," says Peter Lux, head&shoulders creative beauty director. "From sporting a rolled up quiff à la Fendi or side parted soft waves as shown at Hilfiger, everything is allowed as long as it's got that done ‘undoneness' about it." Elsewhere Giambattista Valli went for 60s-style updos, Oscar de le Renta channelled 1970s Hollywood while at La Coste, models with side ponytails looked as though they'd just stepped out of the eighties.
