Polished ponies

A reminder of the scraped back, gelled down ballet buns so many of us suffered in school dance class, super sleek ponytails swung down the catwalks at Louis Vuitton, YSL and Miu Miu. A step away from the curled and tousled spring/summer styles, polished ponies not only added an air of glamour; they allowed the focus to fall on the clothes too. "Slick, sleek and glossy ponies were popular at shows such as Calvin Klein," says Carlo Cardinale, senior artist at Paul Mitchell. "Although simple, this look can be made very sexy with striking results depending on whether the pony is placed at a playful height, low or stylishly to the side."
