Big hair is back. "It's Amy Winehouse, meets Victoriana," explains Malcolm Edwards, session stylist and Fashion Week fixture. "The flyaway strands and the arm-aching amount of backcombing involved is what makes this look, and it suits all hair types, so fine-haired girls needn't despair."
Aim to achieve a clean, ‘cloud' type of bouffant, rather than a matted bird nest that defies combing. "Load up the hair with lightweight products," says Malcolm. "L'Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Pli, £11.30, makes hair thicker so scrunch it on dry hair, brush it out and blast with a hairdryer.
If your hair's curly, straighten it first. Back-brush gently and mist with L'Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Air Fix, £8.25. For additional flyaways he suggests clamping back combed sections with straightening irons for a few seconds.
