Tara Smith is the hot hair stylist the celebs are turning to for fab cuts and styles that really show off their A-list features. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with her to turn her scissors on my mop of unruly waves and now I'm wondering how I can get her to cut my hair for the rest of my days. Yes, really, it was that good.
Tara believes that a ‘great haircut should enhance your facial features while also accenting your personality... "I approach every cut with an eye for geometry while tailoring each look to the individual." Something many hairdressers certainly do not do.
With super-curly locks herself Tara shows considerable skill in cutting this type of hair. Anyone with curls, waves or ringlets will know that a great cut makes all the difference to how long it takes you to get out the door in the morning.
With an innovative cutting technique and a real eye for cutting the hair to suit the face Tara listened to what I wanted while I listened to her hair care tips. Two important bits of advice I took away with me were to never brush my curls, if anything just run a wide-toothed comb through them in the shower with conditioner protecting them. And to really nourish curly hair with curl-specific products and let a diffuser dry the hair if you haven't got time to let it air dry. Following this advice I've been able to simply wash, apply a curl enhancer and either diffuse my hair or leave it to dry naturally, even with my crazy wavy fringe and my hair has never looked better.
Tara has worked with many famous faces both on and off set, including Marisa Tomei, Demi Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Anna Friel and Rosario Dawson. Not to mention her film credits which include Tarantino's Grindhouse and every gal's favourite girlie flick, Sex and The City.
