Eva Mendes with top knot bun
Eva Mendes is famed for her top knot buns and slick updos and, let\'s face it, if we had her cheekbones and jaw-line we would definitely do the same. This week however Eva proved that one style can look completely different with the addition of a side-sweeping fringe turning her bun from daytime chic to evening glam. Simply sweep your fringe or long side-sweeping layers backwards for the slick daytime look and then blow-dry forward for the heavy fringe appearance for the evening. Remember, the addition of a fringe, side-sweeping fringe or indeed, layers can turn your favourite hairstyle into something more eye-catching and face-framing, so if you need to update your look this month make sure you take Eva\'s lead. Watch our five easy steps to recreating Eva\'s bun here.
Heidi Klum,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair
Celebrity hairstle of the day - Heidi Klum
Proving she\'s still got supermodel status, Heidi Klum caused a commotion when she attended the Project Runway Season eight premiere in New York rocking an edgier look than usual. Dressed in a plunging white jumpsuit, boxy Bolero jacket and red sky-high heels, the model-turned-actress-turned-TV presenter made a point that she was on top of the trends by teaming her tailored wardrobe with a punk-style quiff. Twisting the rest of her hair back into a contemporary French pleat, despite her hair being kept off the face, it retained a laid-back effortless feel as some strands were left to separate naturally to add movement and create that ‘just stepped off the stage\' look.
The key to a good quiff is blow-drying and backcombing. Always easier to create the day after you\'ve washed your hair (especially for super-fine locks) spritz in some salt spray or dry shampoo at the roots to add volume and for a not-so-perfect finish, ditch your brushes and use your fingers to comb through the hair instead - it will give a more raw, rock-star finish.

Celebrity hairstyle of the day - Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Famed for her doll-like looks, Sophie Ellis-Bextor looked picture perfect at the opening of the £15 million Jacques pop-up boutique at Townhouse Hotel in London. Dressed neatly in a white ‘60s style lace mini complete with black slip, her porcelain skin, posy pink lips and dark-rimmed eyes were met with an equally retro updo that showed off her hair\'s gorgeous auburn glow. Adding volume at the crown, her hair was pinned back to create a pre-beehive bouff while strands were left loose at the front to give the look a contemporary twist with added movement.
To recreate the look, add rollers at the crown of your hair and set with hairspray, or for quick-fix volume, try your hand at backcombing. Don\'t be afraid if shorter strands fall loose when you sweep the hair back and remember, the more tousled and toned down it looks, the better.

Celebrity hairstyle of the day - Jessica Biel
A fashion and beauty chameleon, no-one can fault Jessica Biel\'s eye for style. Posing for shots at The A-Team photocall in Madrid, she looked every inch the leading lady showing off her svelte figure in an off-the-shoulder ensemble. Leaving her hair long and loose to provide a flattering face-framing look, her mid-brown locks had been dyed several shades darker while warm honey blonde highlights were scattered through the ends and front sections to soften the style. Proving that darker hair can work just as well in summer as it can in winter, the natural waves and added volume also added to the seriously sophisticated but girly get-up. Love, love, love it!

Celebrity hairstyle of the day - January Jones
Looking white hot at the Mad Men season four premiere in New York, January Jones who plays Betty Draper in the cult series, fashioned an ornate Versace dress which she paired with an equally elaborate updo. Forgoing her usual blonde bob, her shoulder length hair not only looked a shade darker than its usual platinum, it was twisted back into criss-cross plaits that were pinned neatly at the nape of her neck. The perfect accompaniment to her outfit, the haphazard braids showed off the detailing of her dress, while her black-rimmed eyes drew the focus back to her face. A clear contrast to the ‘60s style Alice bands and rollered quiffs we\'re so used to seeing her with, recreate the look using a tail-comb, bobby pins and some seriously strong thickening spray.
For a simpler version, watch our video on how to recreate the perfect plait here.

Stacey Soloman at Knight and Day premiere
Stepping out last night at the UK premiere of Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, Stacey Solomon worked an understated yet glamorous look which was a world away from her previous big hair and fur jacket combos. With her long blonde hair lightly tonged and brushed out to reveal soft waves, it was Stacey\'s black rocker-roots that gave her look the edge over others. Worked so well this season by the likes of Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and more, Stacey proved that dark roots can improve your look when dressed up, in fact her roots added a touch of style to what could have been yet another celebrity in a metallic dress with wavy hair. A Cheryl Cole copy-cat she is no more...See more celebrities with rocker roots here.

Jennifer Aniston fragrance launch in Harrods
You just can\'t fault the girl, here is Jennifer Aniston at the launch of her debut fragrance, simply called Jennifer Aniston, in Harrods wowing fans in a short Valentino dress teamed with a tan to be jealous of and a choppy layered hairstyle. With some soft honey blonde highlights and lots of texture and movement in her style plus flicky choppy ends it was a glam look for Jen\'s first move into the fragrance industry. To create movement in your hair like Jennifer simply prep the hair with the Sebastian Zero Gravity hairspray to add texture and hold, and then use a round bristle brush to blow-dry hair. Our top tip is to twist hair around the brush at the ends while drying to create movement. Watch our video on how to create this choppy movement in hair here.
Katie Holmes,curls,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair
Katie Holmes wears corkscrew curls at premiere
At the New York premiere of her new film The Extra Man, Katie Holmes opted for corkscrew curls and a new side-sweeping fringe. Wearing a stripy T-shirt style dress and heels it was a relaxed look compared with her recent glossy red carpet appearances alongside husband Tom Cruise and a slightly more styled nod to this season\'s beachy waves. Taking hair tonging to the extreme Katie once again managed to pull off a non-conventional red carpet look - gasp! We like it but think slightly looser curls will work better for the high street as over-tonging can easily lead to tightly wound ‘poodle\' type curls and no one wants those.
Naomi Watts,Blonde,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair
Naomi Watts hairstyle of the day
Angelina and Brad may have been there but it was Naomi Watts\' look that stole our hearts. Appearing at the premiere of her husband\'s new film Salt in Hollywood, Naomi wore a strapless Gucci mini dress and showed off new platinum blonde locks. After wearing her staple curls and waves in Cannes recently last night saw a modern, strong look for the actress with a newly short side-sweeping fringe in place. Want to steal her style? Then get your stylist to cut your mid-length hair into a long sharp blunt bob, take your straighteners and run them down your hair to create this poker straight style. Finally, use a light wax and some hairspray to coax your fringe to one side for this face-framing finish.
Robert Vetica created Naomi\'s new sleek look last night using the celebrity favourite Moroccanoil products and told us, "It was quite a change for Naomi. I cut two inches off, kept her hair blunt and collarbone length, and created bangs that swooped to the side. The length is a bit longer at the front and slightly higher in the back. The fringe was first cut long and blunt, then razored and texturised to about the bridge of the nose so they looked lighter around the face and were easily swept to the side."
This is a style that means business looks trendy yet still has a pretty edge to it. We like.
Dita von Teese,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair,updo
Celebrity hairstyle of the day - Dita von Teese
At the amfAR Gala in Vienna, Dita von Teese decided to take high hair to new levels. A drastic change from her signature style, 40s-esque curls were replaced by a dramatic and head-turning updo. Clearly embracing the trend for high hair, her black locks were swept upwards to give spectacular height and volume, while still retaining that immaculate finish Dita is so well renowned for. With thick black eyebrows and perfect red lips, we think there\'s almost a touch of Geisha to Dita\'s latest get-up. Do you love it or loathe it?
hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair,Amber Le Bon
Amber Le Bon does sleek and sexy
Strutting her stuff at Barcelona Fashion Week, Amber Le Bon looked every inch the supermodel in a pretty white linen dress and slicked-back pony. The ultimate summer look, every strand of hair was swept off her face to reveal her flawless olive skin and strong, statement brows. With no need for any other make-up, it was a sexy and sophisticated get-up that required minimum effort.
Fancy stealing her style? Simply work some serum through the hair before sweeping it into a high pony, smoothing down any loose strands as you go. Secure with a band and then leave the pony loose for a natural finish. The perfect style to carry you through day-to-night, for an extra slice of glamour, loosely curl the ponytail - it will give a brilliant contrast to the slicked-back front.

Lo Bosworth in Hollywood
The Hills star Lo Bosworth, AKA Lauren Conrad\'s bessie friend, graced Hollywood last night in a stylish short white halterneck dress and voluminous bun. With extreme backcombing at the roots used to create this high reaching updo it was a sophisticated look for the young reality star.

Celebrity hairstyle of the day Marion Cotillard
French actress Marion Cotillard looked effortlessly cool - it was over 30 degrees - at the premiere of Inception in Paris wearing a lace Dior dress, modern French pleat and high voluminous quiff. Proving if nothing else that those of us with mid-length hair can work updos and fancy ones at that, Marion was the envy of the office not least because she got to snuggle up to Leonardo DiCaprio on the red carpet. Learn how to get a quiff here.

heather graham,curls,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair
Heather Graham chooses festival chic
Carefree curls were the hairstyle du jour for Hollywood starlet, Heather Graham at Italy\'s Ischia Global Film and Music Festival. Opting for natural beachy waves that fell loosely onto her shoulders, her minimalist make-up complemented the summer style perfectly, while her strapless black dress screamed boho beautiful.
Easy to create without the use of heated tools, the secret to Heather\'s beach-to-bar style barnet is prep-work. Start by working a natural curl creator like Umberto Giannini\'s Scrunching Curl Friends Jelly, £4.69, boots.com through the hair, scrunching as you go. For extra definition, wind some loose tendrils around your fingers to help set the curls, and then spritz hair all over with a salt spray - this will help the strands to swell and give you that tousled effect minus the tangles. For a fast-track option, add a blob of lightweight mousse and pop the diffuser on your dryer. Beachy, mussed-up hair, done!
hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair,Pixie Lott
Pixie Lott
Attending the London premiere of Inception Pixie Lott showed the crowds how to work an effortless, relaxed hair style while the temperatures soar this summer. Working an edgy half-up, half-down ‘do with flowing waves this is a great way to laid-back summer hair as opposed to a fussy updo or sweating it out under a face full of hair.
To get this look simply blow dry your hair before curling a few sections using hair straighteners or tongs. Spitz liberally with a shine spray like Ojon\'s Shine and Protect Mist, £23.50, johnlewis.com before pulling a couple of inches of the front section back with a hair clip or Kirby grips.

Leighton Meester front row at the Chanel Couture show 2010
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester looked every inch the young edgy Hollywood star on the front row at the Chanel Haute Couture show in Paris yesterday. With smoky eye make-up, a long sleeved leather mini dress and a sophisticated half-up half-down hairstyle it was the perfect mix of high end fashion and classic beauty. The key to this look is the right amount of backcombing at the roots on the crown. You don\'t want a full-on beehive but you also don\'t want to be left with a flat hairstyle so use lots of spray and a comb to really work in body and height. Leighton has also tonged random strands of her long loose hair which work together to keep her style pretty and fashionable. The finishing touch for us is the soft wispy hairline which softens the whole look. It\'s definitely one to copy this summer...
Cameron Diaz,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair
Cameron Diaz goes glamorous
At the Brazilian premiere of her latest flick, Knight and Day, Cameron Diaz wowed the red carpet crowds with her figure-hugging black dress, complete with sexy side-split. Teamed with killer heels to show off her gorgeously bronzed body, Cameron chose to leave her hair long and loose to soften the look. Divided into a centre parting, the pretty Marcel-style waves were pulled out to create a full but perfectly neat kink in the hair. Add to that her sultry red pout, and it was a clear nod to the ‘20s-style glamour so many celebrities are favouring right now.
Jessica Alba,hair,hairstyles,celebrity hair
Jessica Alba at Dior Couture show in Paris 2010
Attending the Christian Dior Couture autumn/winter fashion show in Paris, Jessica Alba looked stunning on the front row in a pretty floral print dress and white peep-toe shoes. With a vintagey feel to her whole outfit it was no surprise that Jessica\'s simple updo worked so well. With a side-sweeping parting and soft tonged waves her hair was pulled back into a simple bun at the nape of the neck for a low-key yet extremely pretty finish. Team that with a dusky pink lipstick and some white 1960s style sunglasses and you have the perfect Parisian look for summer.

Diana Vickers at Perez Hilton\'s One Night In...London
You might be mistaken for thinking that Diana Vickers has had the chop, swapping her long flowing locks for a sleek-chic twenties-style bob. However on closer inspection, you\'ll notice that it\'s actually just a clever trick of the eye, and instead her hair has been pulled back and discreetly rollered, before being pinned under at the nape of her neck. Revealing her oh-so sexy updo at the infamous Perez Hilton\'s One Night In...London, where she performed alongside The Hoosiers and Kelis, it\'s a clear step away from the super-sweet persona we\'ve seen in the past, and a nod towards a more grown-up, glamorous get-up. We especially like the sweeping side-flick at the front - very Hollywood.

Nikki Reed vamps up the London Twilight premiere
The London premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse may have been missing its main three stars (Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner) but the supporting cast still managed to draw in hundreds of fans last night. Nikki Reed who plays Edward\'s sister Rosalie looked stunning in a peachy coloured asymmetrical dress. She may be a bit of a baddy in the films but on the red carpet Nikki looked nothing like her blonde vampire character with her natural brunette hair colour, glowing skin and long glossy locks.

Freida pinto at the Last Airbender premiere
Freida Pinto made a welcome return to the red carpet last night at the premiere of The Last Airbender supporting her boyfriend and star of the film Dev Patel. Looking stunning in a bright green one-shoulder dress with her hair pulled back into a messy updo, it was a fresh summery look for the Slumdog Millionaire star. With lots of volume at the roots and on the top of her hairstyle, Freida managed to turn what could have been ‘just another celebrity updo\' into something on-trend and fresh with a messy yet glamorous finish. The back of her hair was twisted and pinned into place and her hairline was soft and wispy. Well done Frieda, we like. Learn how to get recreate a glamorous updo here.
