The soap stars were out in force lapping up the bubbly at the champagne reception for the TV Quick & TV Choice Awards at The Dorchester last night, and star of Belle du Jour and Dr Who, Billie Piper, showed off inches of dark roots and lengths of honey blonde hair. Now usually we would be agog and aghast at such root growth but for some reason we don't actually hate this look on the once teen popstrel. It adds a sexy, dirty edge to her style, reminiscent of the looks of models such as Alice Dellal and Erin Wasson who both work sunkissed ends and dark roots.

I can't see any ladies in this office letting their roots grow to such mammoth proportions, but this might just be the new style to reflect these penny pinching times. Can't afford a trip to the salon? Don't bother, celebrate that fierce girl look and work those roots, baby!
