Nu:u Life Curl Boost Spray

Our beauty assistant Jessica's natural curls are prone to unwelcome attacks of the frizzies and tend to wilt as the day goes on. She's forever looking for the perfect product to help boost her bouncy locks, so who better to test out five of the best curl boosting sprays on the market...

Nu:u Life Curl Boost Spray
£9.50

A lovely fresh, floral scent makes this booster a real treat to use. My hair smelt lovely when dry, and although it created a real springy curl that I liked, I'm afraid I lost my battle with the frizz and had to use more product to control it. Great for curls, not so good if you suffer from frizzies. The size makes it ideal t carry in your handbag for style pick-me-ups throughout the day though.

TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock
£13.50

This product was in a spray can instead of a pump, which was weird at first as I felt like I was using hairspray and wasn't sure how much to apply. But I'm seriously impressed. My hair didn't dry sticky or feel heavy, and it gave me really tight, defined curls. Although initially I felt it didn't control the frizzies, within an hour of being dry, my hair was frizz free, healthier-looking and the style held. Packaged in a funky, bright-blue can and gorgeously scented, I'd definitely use this booster again!

John Freida Frizz Ease Dream Curls
£3.79

I'm a bit of a Frizz Ease junkie - I honestly don't know what I would have done without Mr Freida these past few years – so I wasn't surprised to find that this booster was my favourite. My curls sprang back to life after a few short spritz, it gave my roots great volume, the frizz vanished and the curl didn't droop all day long. Great value for money too, this little buy is definitely going in my permanent collection

Redken Curl Boost Scrunching Spray Gel
£10.50

I like the Redken brand so I was looking forward to trying this booster. The packaging is as chic as ever and a little goes a long way, which is always good! My curls went tight and smooth, and didn't dry sticky or stiff. Not sure about the word 'scrunching' though – made me feel like my style was stuck in the '80s!

Pantene Pro V Perfect Curls Curl Creating Gel Spray
£3.99

This spray had a subtle, fragrant scent that I liked, although whilst drying I could tell this product was going to leave my locks a little sticky. I was impressed with the curl and frizz control, and the gel part of the formula meant the style had great hold - no need for hair spray – but my hair felt quite heavy and product-laden with this spray, so I'd advise using only a few pumps when applying
