Tried and tested: the dip dye trend

The dip-dye trend has been steadily growing as one of the most exciting and fun hair trends of the year, with girls-in-the-know sporting everything from bleach blonde hair with bright pink tips, to the more natural looking ombré style.

Eager to try out the style for myself, I headed down to the super-friendly Neil Cornelius 1st Floor salon on New Bond Street. As a hair-dye virgin, I needed to know I was in good hands, and that my colourist was going to understand exactly how I wanted it done. For this, I couldn’t have picked a better salon, or colourist.

Thankfully, no bleach was involved at all, as the tips of my hair were tin-foiled in Redken blonde hair dye for half an hour. The underneath of my hair was coloured from half-way down my head, and a few wisps of blonde were strategically placed in my sweeping fringe to make it look more natural. After 30 minutes I was whisked away to have the dye washed out, and then treated to a cut and blow-dry by the man himself, Neil Cornelius.

I can honestly say I’ve never emerged from the hair dresser happier, and will definitely be indulging in the dip-dye trend again! Rachel Bilson, eat your heart out!
