On trial... Gloss sprays
Every month, we'll put your favourite hair-saving and styling goodies to the test. This time, gloss sprays are put in the spotlight...
Autumnal hair is all about gloss, but if you're not born with natural sheen, and let's face it, not many of us are, you might need a little extra help to get your mane in shiny-shape for this season. Veronica Kirby, handbag's Relationships Assistant, has naturally blonde curly hair. 'Because of my hair type, it's hard to get the shine I want, so a gloss spray is essential.' And so we challenged her to test the sheen of five of gloss sprays to see which would shine on…
Bumble and bumble little Bb.Shine
£15
'Initially, I wasn't too keen on this product, as the smell was quite clinical and overpowering, but I'm impressed with the results. Although its difficult to judge how much to use, this mist gave my hair a lovely sheen, and I absolutely adore the packaging! The champagne-gold case looks super-glam, so it looks fab on my dressing table, plus the size makes it perfect for my handbag for applications throughout the day.'

£8.99
'I loved this product! After towel drying I dispensed a few drops into my hands and worked through my locks. This lightweight serum is silky-soft and non-sticky – it's very easy to use and feels blissful when combed through. My hair was left super-soft and really, really shiny with a lovely, subtle-shampooy, clean scent. The effects lasted all day. Fab.'

John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum Finishing Spray
£4.16
'This is the perfect shine spray for blondes and curly girlies! This quick, simple spray smells pleasant and creates instant wow-inducing shine. It left my locks with a brilliant sheen and they've never felt softer, plus my curls were defined and more manageable – am slighted addicted to this product now! It will become a permanent fixture in my haircare regime from now on. Great value for moeny too.'

Lee Stafford Spray Shine
£4.49
'I've used the Lee Stafford Heat Protector before and, although I was pleased with the results, the smell was off-putting. This product was no different – the “cheap hairspray” scent isn't too pleasant but this fine spray creates great, all-over sheen without appearing greasy, which lasted throughout the day. Very easy to use – just spray and go, plus the loud hot pink packaging looked fab on my bathroom shelf – a great statement piece.'
Available at Boots nationwide Joico Brilliantine Spray Gloss
£8.95
'This spray was also quick and easy to use, and although my hair was shiny, it just didn't work as well as the others I've tried – plus it wasn't as glam-looking or sweet smelling. The grey, uninspiring bottle looks quite masculine, so be prepared for your man to steal it!'
