Hi
I have had my hair cut into a longer pixie style cut, a bit like Rihanna's but not as short at the back. I got it cut like this because my hair can get quite thin when longer. However I have found that it grows out of style quickly and looks terrible. I am tempted to grow my hair because of this but I still want it to have some style whilst doing so, I was thinking a fringe? Please help as I don't know what to do, as it can't stay like this. I have a heart/oval shape face and big blue eyes. My hair is light brown but looks a lot better dyed darker with my skin tone. I'm seventeen, so can't afford to keep getting it cut. What do you suggest?
Thanks
Alice
Firstly I'd suggest only growing your hair into a bob. This style cut works well with almost any face shape as it accentuates cheekbones and flatters jaw lines. It's all about getting the right length bob to suit your face, as you have a heart shaped face have it cut above the jaw line. A fringe will look great with your current style and also look fantastic with bobs, particularly cut above the eyebrows, as they really open up your face.
Hello Michael
I have really fine white/grey hair, which I had cut into a 'Judi Dench' because I thought it would be easy to do. Unfortunately, when you're not a famous actress, that does tend to show up all the wrinkles, and so I thought I would grow it back, perhaps into a short bob - do you think fine hair this white would be okay in this style, and how can I make it look thicker and healthier than it does now? Any advice would be really welcome.
Thank you
One length or a slightly layered bob works wonders with fine hair, as this cut makes the hair appear thicker. This style can easily be dressed with volume it just requires the right drying technique and use of product. With the hair damp use a suitable product that will protect against heat, try Shockwaves Gloss and Body Mousse (£2.99) Evenly distribute a golf ball sized amount then simply blow dry your hair upside down. Once the hair is completely dry take small sections and spray at the roots with a firm hold hairspray, try System Professional Ultimation (£9.95) and dry once again lifting the hair away from the way it would naturally fall. This will help you exaggerate your hair's natural root lift.
Hi
I am a 51 year old woman who went through a particularly bad period of stress about 18 months ago. It was shortly after that, that I noticed a lot more hair in the shower after washing it, a lot more in my hairbrush and on the floor. My son who was training as a hairdresser commented that my scalp looked very red, which it did. I also noticed that when I washed my hair the scalp seemed to be more itchy and looked more red. Even now when I look at my scalp it looks red, although it does not appear sore, but does sometimes feel itchy even after it has just been washed.
I saw a Trichologist who suggested I had blood tests done at my doctors to check on zinc/iron levels, get the results and give them to her. She said they appeared fine, which was odd as I'm always so tired. She suggested a course of Florisene anyway, in the hope that they would help. I think they did for a while, so I stupidly stopped taking them when I finished the box...the stress started again and became much worse...the hair loss seemed to get worse as well.
It was then that I embarked on a course of Extra Strength Nourkin tablets, I am almost at the end of month 3 now. During month 2 my hair suddenly seemed to be a lot thicker, even my daughter commented on it, but now particularly near the front, it seems very thin again...and I am scared stiff that I will lose all the hair that once was so thick and full, so much so that hairdressers used to comment that I often had too much to cope with...I would do anything to be at that point again! Please help.
Thanks
Gill Smith
Firstly, please don't worry, as the more you stress about it, the worse it will get. You were right to visit a trichologist, and I would recommend continuing to see them, as they are far more likely to have the solution to your problem.
Hello
Can you advise the best thing to use for lightweight, fluffy hair please? My hair is quite fine in texture but is thick in density so the treatments that claim to swell the hair shaft don't suit. I'd love to have sleek, shining, swinging hair but I have to either make it unmovable with hairspray or it loses its style at the first puff of wind.
Many thanks
Jan
If your hair is suffering from fluff or frizz, you need to apply regular nourishing treatments such as System Professional Hydro Mask. This works wonders moisture-parched hair, leaving it smooth, sleek and glossy. It's important that your hair is sealed once you've finished an anti-frizz treatment. Try Shockwaves Gloss and Hold hairspray as it stops moisture getting in, fends off frizz for hours whilst keeping it swayable.
Hello
I need your help. I have very oily hair, that I have to wash every day otherwise it would look very bad. I change shampoo every month, but that doesn't help. Please can you recommend something to make my hair less greasy?
Thanks in advance
Jurga
Oily hair should be washed every day. Unlike dry hair, oily hair has no problem distributing the sebum, which makes hair look greasy. Try washing with cold water and only using clarifying conditioners once a week. These won't saturate hair quite as much as the heavier duty ones.
